Psalms 130
130
Hope for the Redemption of Yahweh
A song of ascents.#The Hebrew Bible counts the superscription as the first verse of the psalm
1Out of the depths I call to you, O Yahweh.
2“O Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplications.
3If you, O Yah,#A shortened form of “Yahweh” should keep track of#Literally “keep” iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
4But with you is forgiveness,
so that you may be feared.”
5I await Yahweh; my soul awaits,
and I wait#Or “hope,” here and v. 7, though the Hebrew uses a different verbal stem in v. 7 for his word.
6My soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning.
Yes, more than watchmen for the morning.
7O Israel, wait#Or “hope” for Yahweh.
For with Yahweh there is loyal love,
and with him there is abundant redemption.
8And he will redeem Israel
from all its iniquities.
