Isaiah 34
34
1Come near, ye nations, to hear, And ye peoples, give attention, Hear doth the earth and its fulness, The world, and all its productions.
2For wrath [is] to Jehovah against all the nations, And fury against all their host, He hath devoted them to destruction, He hath given them to slaughter.
3And their wounded are cast out, And their carcases cause their stench to ascend, And melted have been mountains from their blood.
4And consumed have been all the host of the heavens, And rolled together as a book have been the heavens, And all their hosts do fade, As the fading of a leaf of a vine, And as the fading one of a fig-tree.
5For soaked in the heavens was My sword, Lo, on Edom it cometh down, On the people of My curse for judgment.
6A sword [is] to Jehovah — it hath been full of blood, It hath been made fat with fatness, With blood of lambs and he-goats. With fat of kidneys of rams, For a sacrifice [is] to Jehovah in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7And come down have reems with them, And bullocks with bulls, And soaked hath been their land from blood, And their dust from fatness is made fat.
8(For a day of vengeance [is] to Jehovah, A year of recompences for Zion's strife,)
9And turned have been her streams to pitch, And her dust to brimstone, And her land hath become burning pitch.
10By night and by day she is not quenched, To the age go up doth her smoke, From generation to generation she is waste, For ever and ever, none is passing into her.
11And possess her do pelican and hedge-hog, And owl and raven dwell in her, And He hath stretched out over her A line of vacancy, and stones of emptiness.
12[To] the kingdom her freemen they call, But there are none there, And all her princes are at an end.
13And gone up her palaces have thorns, Nettle and bramble [are] in her fortresses, And it hath been a habitation of dragons, A court for daughters of an ostrich.
14And met have Ziim with Aiim, And the goat for its companion calleth, Only there rested hath the night-owl, And hath found for herself a place of rest.
15There made her nest hath the bittern, Yea, she layeth, and hath hatched, And hath gathered under her shadow, Only there gathered have been vultures, Each with its companion.
16Seek out of the book of Jehovah, and read, One of these hath not been lacking, None hath missed its companion, For My mouth — it hath commanded, And His spirit — He hath gathered them.
17And He hath cast for them a lot, And His hand hath apportioned [it] to them by line, Unto the age they possess it, To all generations they dwell in it!

Isaiah 34

God will Punish his Enemies
1Come, people of all nations! Gather round and listen. Let the whole earth and everyone living on it come here and listen. 2The LORD is angry with all the nations and all their armies. He has condemned them to destruction. 3Their corpses will not be buried, but will lie there rotting and stinking; and the mountains will be red with blood. 4#Mt 24.29; Mk 13.25; Lk 21.26; Rev 6.13–14The sun, moon, and stars will crumble to dust. The sky will disappear like a scroll being rolled up, and the stars will fall like leaves dropping from a vine or a fig tree.

Is 63.1–6; Jer 49.7–22; Ezek 25.12–14; 35.1–15; Amos 1.11–12; Obad 1.1–14; Mal 1.2–5 The LORD has prepared his sword in heaven, and now it will strike Edom, those people whom he has condemned to destruction. 6His sword will be covered with their blood and fat, like the blood and fat of lambs and goats that are sacrificed. The LORD will offer this sacrifice in the city of Bozrah; he will make this a great slaughter in the land of Edom. 7The people will fall like wild oxen and young bulls, and the earth will be red with blood and covered with fat. 8This is the time when the LORD will rescue Zion and take vengeance on her enemies.
9The rivers of Edom will turn into tar, and the soil will turn into sulphur. The whole country will burn like tar. 10#Rev 14.11; 19.3It will burn day and night, and smoke will rise from it for ever. The land will lie waste age after age, and no one will ever travel through it again. 11Owls and ravens will take over the land. The LORD will make it a barren waste again, as it was before the creation. 12There will be no king to rule the country, and the leaders will all be gone.#34.12 Verse 12 in Hebrew begins with a word, the meaning of which is unclear. 13Thorns and thistles will grow up in all the palaces and walled towns, and jackals and owls will live in them. 14Wild animals will roam there, and demons will call to each other. The night monster#34.14 night monster: A female demon, believed to live in desolate places. will come there looking for a place to rest. 15Owls will build their nests, lay eggs, hatch their young, and care for them there. Vultures will gather there, one after another.
16Search in the LORD's book of living creatures and read what it says. Not one of these creatures will be missing, and not one will be without its mate. The LORD has commanded it to be so; he himself will bring them together. 17It is the LORD who will divide the land among them and give each of them a share. They will live in the land age after age, and it will belong to them for ever.
