Genesis 7

7
1 AND THE Lord said to Noah, Come with all your household into the ark, for I have seen you to be righteous (upright and in right standing) before Me in this generation. [Ps. 27:5; 33:18, 19; II Pet. 2:9.]
2 Of every clean beast you shall receive and take with you seven pairs, the male and his mate, and of beasts that are not clean a pair of each kind, the male and his mate, [Lev. 11.]
3 Also of the birds of the air seven pairs, the male and the female, to keep seed [their kind] alive over all the earth or land.
4 For in seven days I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights, and every living substance and thing that I have made I will destroy, blot out, and wipe away from the face of the earth.
5 And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him. [Heb. 11:7.]
6 Noah was 600 years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth or land.
7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. [Matt. 24:38; Luke 17:27.]
8 Of clean animals and of animals that are not clean, and of birds and fowls, and of everything that creeps on the ground,
9 There went in two and two with Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And after the seven days the floodwaters came upon the earth or land.
11 In the year 600 of Noah's life, in the seventeenth day of the second month, that same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up and burst forth, and the windows and floodgates of the heavens were opened.
12 And it rained upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
13 On the very same day Noah and Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons with them, went into the ark,
14 They and every [wild] beast according to its kind, all the livestock according to their kinds, every moving thing that creeps on the land according to its kind, and every fowl according to its kind, every winged thing of every sort.
15 And they went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there were the breath and spirit of life.
16 And they that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded [Noah]; and the Lord shut him in and closed [the door] round about him.
17 The flood [that is, the downpour of rain] was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased and bore up the ark, and it was lifted [high] above the land.
18 And the waters became mighty and increased greatly upon the land, and the ark went [gently floating] upon the surface of the waters.
19 And the waters prevailed so exceedingly and were so mighty upon the earth that all the high hills under the whole sky were covered.
20 [In fact] the waters became fifteen cubits higher, as the high hills were covered.
21 And all flesh ceased to breathe that moved upon the earth–fowls and birds, [tame] animals, [wild] beasts, all swarming and creeping things that swarm and creep upon the land, and all mankind.
22 Everything on the dry land in whose nostrils were the breath and spirit of life died.
23 God destroyed (blotted out) every living thing that was upon the face of the earth; man and animals and the creeping things and the birds of the heavens were destroyed (blotted out) from the land. Only Noah remained alive, and those who were with him in the ark. [Matt. 24:37-44.]
24 And the waters prevailed [mightily] upon the earth or land 150 days (five months).

Chapter 7
God destroys people and animals
1Then the Lord said to Noah, ‘Go into the boat. Take your wife and family with you. I can see that you alone do what is right, among all the people on the earth.
2Take 7 of every different kind of clean animal. Take a male and a female together. Take 2 of every different kind of dirty animal. Take a male and a female together. 3Take 7 of every kind of bird. Take males and females. Do this so that they will have young ones. Then each different kind of animal and bird will continue to live on the earth. #7:3 Clean animals are the kinds of animal that God accepts as a sacrifice. Dirty animals are those that God does not accept. God told Noah to take more clean animals so that Noah could offer sacrifices to God. There would still be animals that remained to have young ones.
4In 7 days, I will cause rain to fall on the earth. It will rain for 40 days and 40 nights. In that way, I will destroy every living thing that I have made on the earth.’
5Noah did everything that God told him to do.
6Noah was 600 years old when the deep water covered the earth. 7Noah and his wife went into the boat. His sons and their wives also went in. They all went into the boat to be safe from the deep water. 8Pairs of clean animals and dirty animals came to Noah in the boat. Also, pairs of birds and pairs of all the living things that move across the ground came to him. 9Each pair was one male and one female. They all came to Noah in the boat. #7:9 God told the animals to go to Noah. Noah and his family obeyed God. God kept them all safe. Everything happened as God had said to Noah. 10After seven days had passed, God sent the deep water to cover the earth.
11When Noah was 600 years old, on the 17th day of the second month, streams of water came up everywhere from below the earth. Also, the water in the heavens poured down on the earth. 12Rain fell on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights.
13On the day that the rains began, Noah and his wife went into the boat. Noah's 3 sons (Shem, Ham and Japheth) and their 3 wives also went in. 14With them was every different kind of wild animal and every different kind of farm animal. They also had with them every kind of living thing that moves along the ground, and every different kind of bird and other flying things. 15Pairs of every kind of animal that lived came to Noah and went into the boat. #7:15 The things that lived in the sea were safe in the deep water. See Genesis 1:21-25. 16Each pair was one male and one female. This happened in the way that God had told Noah. When they were all in the boat, the Lord shut the door.
17For 40 days, the water on the earth became deeper. The water lifted the boat high above the ground.
18The water became even deeper and completely covered the earth. The boat went safely on top of the water. 19More water came until it covered all the high mountains on the earth. 20The water still became deeper so that it was more than 6 metres higher than the tops of the mountains.
21As a result, everything that had lived on the earth now died. The birds, the livestock and the wild animals died. Every living thing that moved across the ground died, and so did all the people. 22Everything that had lived on the dry land died. Nothing could breathe any more. 23God destroyed everything that lived on the earth. He destroyed people, animals, living things that move across the ground, and birds. God removed them from the earth. Only Noah and his family, together with the animals that were in the boat, stayed alive.
24The deep water covered the earth for 150 days.
