Isaiah 26
26
The Song of Judah
1On that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:
We have a strong city.
Salvation is established as walls and ramparts. # Is 60:18
2Open the gates
so a righteous nation can come in —
one that remains faithful.
3You will keep the mind that is dependent on You
in perfect peace, # Is 26:12; 27:5; 57:19; 66:12
for it is trusting in You.
4Trust in the Lord forever,
because in Yah, the Lord, is an everlasting rock! # Ps 73:26; Is 17:10; 30:29; 44:8
5For He has humbled those who live in lofty places —
an inaccessible city. # Is 25:10-12
He brings it down; He brings it down to the ground;
He throws it to the dust.
6Feet trample it,
the feet of the humble,
the steps of the poor.
God’s People Vindicated
7The path of the righteous is level; # Ps 27:11
You clear a straight path for the righteous.
8Yes, Yahweh, we wait for You
in the path of Your judgments.
Our desire is for Your name and renown. # Ex 3:15
9I long for You in the night; # Ps 77:2; 84:2; 119:20,81
yes, my spirit within me diligently seeks You,
for when Your judgments are in the land,
the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
10But if the wicked man is shown favor,
he does not learn righteousness.
In a righteous land he acts unjustly
and does not see the majesty of the Lord.
11Lord, Your hand is lifted up to take action,
but they do not see it.
They will see Your zeal for Your people,
and they will be put to shame.
The fire for Your adversaries will consume them!
12Lord, You will establish peace for us,
for You have also done all our work for us.
13Yahweh our God, lords other than You have ruled over us,
but we remember Your name alone. # Jn 10:25
14The dead do not live;
departed spirits do not rise up.
Indeed, You have visited and destroyed them;
You have wiped out all memory of them. # Jb 18:17; Ps 9:6
15You have added to the nation, Lord. # Is 9:3
You have added to the nation; You are honored.
You have expanded all the borders of the land. # Is 33:17; 54:2-3
16Lord, they went to You in their distress; # Is 37:3; Hs 5:15
they poured out whispered prayers
because Your discipline fell on them. # Hb obscure
17As a pregnant woman about to give birth
writhes and cries out in her pains, # Is 13:8
so we were before You, Lord.
18We became pregnant, we writhed in pain;
we gave birth to wind.
We have won no victories on earth,
and the earth’s inhabitants have not fallen.
19Your dead will live; their bodies # Lit live; my body they will rise. # Is 25:8; Ezk 37:1-14; Dn 12:2; Hs 13:14; Mt 11:5; Lk 7:22; Jn 8:51
Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust!
For you will be covered with the morning dew, # Lit For your dew is a dew of lights
and the earth will bring out the departed spirits.
20Go, my people, enter your rooms
and close your doors behind you.
Hide for a little while until the wrath has passed. # Is 10:5,25; 13:5; 34:2; 66:14
21For look, the Lord is coming from His place # Mc 1:3
to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. # Is 13:11
The earth will reveal the blood shed on it
and will no longer conceal her slain.

Yeshayah (Isaiah) 26
26
1In that day this song is sung in the land of Yehuḏah, “We have a strong city – He sets up deliverance, walls and ramparts.
2“Open the gates, let the righteous nation which guards the truth enter in.
3“The one steadfast of mind You guard in perfect peace, for he trusts in You.
4“Trust in יהוה forever, for in Yah, יהוה, is a rock of ages.
5“For He shall bring down those who dwell on high. He lays the exalted city low, He lays it low to the earth, He brings it down to the dust.
6“A foot tramples it down – feet of the poor, footsteps of the needy.”
7The path of the righteous is uprightness; O upright One, You weigh the course of the righteous.
8Also, in the path of Your right-rulings, O יהוה, we have waited for You; the longing of our being is for Your Name and for the remembrance of You.
9My being longs for You in the night, also, my spirit within me seeks You earnestly. For when Your right-rulings are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world shall learn righteousness.
10The wrong finds favour, yet he shall not learn righteousness; in the land of straightforwardness he acts perversely, and does not see the excellency of יהוה.
11O יהוה, Your hand is high, they do not see. They see the ardour of the people and are ashamed; also, let the fire for Your adversaries consume them.
12O יהוה, You establish peace for us, for You have also done all our works in us.
13O יהוה our Elohim, other masters besides You have had rule over us; only in You do we make mention of Your Name.
14The dead do not live; the departed spirits#Departed spirits - the Repha’im. do not rise. Therefore You have visited and destroyed them, and made all their remembrance to perish.
15You shall increase the nation, O יהוה, You shall increase the nation; You are esteemed; You shall expand all the borders of the land.
16O יהוה, in distress they shall visit You, they shall pour out a prayer when Your disciplining is upon them.
17As a woman with child and about to give birth writhes and cries out in her pain, so shall we be before Your face, O יהוה.
18We have conceived, we writhed in pain; we have given birth to wind. We have not accomplished deliverance in the earth, nor have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
19Let Your dead live, together with my dead body, let them arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust; for Your dew is a dew of light, and let the earth give birth to the departed spirits.#Departed spirits - the Repha’im.
20Go, my people, enter your rooms, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourself, as it were, for a little while, until the displeasure is past.
21For look, יהוה is coming out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their crookedness. And the earth shall disclose her blood, and no longer cover her killed ones.
