1 # For ver. 1-8, see Mark 9:2-8; Luke 9:28-36 And after six days Jesus took with him #ch. 26:37; Mark 5:37Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2And he was #[2 Cor. 3:18 (Gk.)] transfigured before them, and #Rev. 1:16; 10:1 his face shone like the sun, and #Dan. 7:9; [ch. 28:3; Ps. 104:2]his clothes became white as light. 3And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. 4And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for #[Mal. 4:5]Elijah.” 5He was still speaking when, behold, #2 Pet. 1:17; [Ex. 24:15, 16] a bright cloud overshadowed them, and #2 Pet. 1:17; [Ex. 24:15, 16] a voice from the cloud said, #See ch. 3:17 “This is my beloved Son,#17:5 Or my Son, my (or the) Beloved with whom I am well pleased; #Acts 3:22listen to him.” 6When #2 Pet. 1:18 the disciples heard this, #[Gen. 17:3; Ezek. 1:28; Rev. 1:17]they fell on their faces and were terrified. 7But Jesus came and #Dan. 8:18; 10:10, 18 touched them, saying, “Rise, and #ch. 14:27have no fear.” 8And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. 16And I brought him to your disciples, and #[ch. 10:1; Mark 6:7; Luke 10:17]they could not heal him.” 17And Jesus answered, “O faithless and #Phil. 2:15; [John 20:27] twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? #[John 14:9]How long am I to bear with you? For #ch. 21:21, 22; Mark 11:23 truly, I say to you, #Luke 17:6; [ch. 13:31] if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, #ver. 9; [1 Cor. 13:2] you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and #Mark 9:23nothing will be impossible for you.”#17:20 Some manuscripts insert verse 21: But this kind never comes out except by prayer and fasting
