Gen. 21:3 Abraham was the father of Isaac, and #Gen. 25:26 Isaac the father of Jacob, and #Gen. 29:35Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, 3and #[Ruth 4:18-22; 1 Chr. 2:1-15]Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram,#1:3 Greek Aram; also verse 4 4and Ram the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon, 5and Salmon the father of Boaz by #Josh. 6:25Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, 6and #1 Sam. 16:1; 17:12 Jesse the father of David the king.
And #2 Sam. 12:24 David was the father of Solomon by #2 Sam. 12:10the wife of Uriah, 7and #For ver. 7-10, see 1 Chr. 3:10-14Solomon the father of Rehoboam, and Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of Asaph,#1:7 Asaph is probably an alternate spelling of Asa; some manuscripts Asa; also verse 8 8and Asaph the father of Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, #[2 Kgs. 15:1; 1 Chr. 3:11, 12]and Joram the father of Uzziah, 9and Uzziah the father of Jotham, and Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah, 10and Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, and Manasseh the father of Amos,#1:10 Amos is probably an alternate spelling of Amon; some manuscripts Amon; twice in this verse and Amos the father of Josiah, 11and #1 Chr. 3:15, 16 Josiah the father of #Esth. 2:6; Jer. 24:1; 27:20Jechoniah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon.
12And after the deportation to Babylon: #1 Chr. 3:17-19 Jechoniah was the father of #Luke 3:27 Shealtiel,#1:12 Greek Salathiel; twice in this verse and #Ezra 3:2Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, 13and Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, and Abiud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor, 14and Azor the father of Zadok, and Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud, 15and Eliud the father of Eleazar, and Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob, 16and Jacob the father of #Luke 3:23Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.

The Birth of Jesus Christ
18Now the birth of #ver. 1; Mark 1:1; John 1:17; 17:3; [ver. 16] Jesus Christ#1:18 Some manuscripts of the Christ took place in this way. #Luke 1:27 When his mother Mary had been betrothed#1:18 That is, legally pledged to be married to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child #Luke 1:35from the Holy Spirit. 19And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling #[Deut. 24:1]to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20But as he considered these things, behold, #ch. 2:13, 19; [ch. 2:12, 22]an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She will bear a son, and #ver. 25; Luke 1:31; 2:21 you shall call his name Jesus, #Luke 2:11; Acts 4:12; 5:31; 13:23, 38; [Acts 3:26]for he will save his people from their sins.” 22#ch. 21:4; 26:56; John 19:36 All this took place #ch. 2:15, 23; 4:14; Mark 14:49to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23 # Cited from Isa. 7:14 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name #Isa. 8:8, 10 Immanuel”
(which means, God #See ch. 28:20with us). 24When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, 25but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And #ver. 21he called his name Jesus.

Matthew 1
1¶ The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.
2Abraham begat Isaac; Isaac begat Jacob; Jacob begat Judas and his brothers;
3Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; Phares begat Esrom; Esrom begat Aram;
4Aram begat Aminadab; Aminadab begat Naasson; Naasson begat Salmon;
5Salmon begat Booz {Greek word for “Boaz”} of Rachab; Booz begat Obed of Ruth; Obed begat Jesse;
6Jesse begat David the king; David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7Solomon begat Roboam; Roboam begat Abia; Abia begat Asa;
8Asa begat Josaphat; Josaphat begat Joram; Joram begat Ozias;
9Ozias begat Joatham; Joatham begat Achaz; Achaz begat Ezekias;
10Ezekias begat Manasses; Manasses begat Amon; Amon begat Josias;
11Josias begat Jechonias and his brothers, about the time they were carried away to Babylon;
12after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
13Zorobabel begat Abiud; Abiud begat Eliakim; Eliakim begat Azor;
14Azor begat Sadoc; Sadoc begat Achim; Achim begat Eliud;
15Eliud begat Eleazar; Eleazar begat Matthan; Matthan begat Jacob;
16Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; from the carrying away into Babylon unto the Christ are fourteen generations.
18¶ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was like this: That being, his mother Mary espoused to Joseph (before they came together) she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.
19Then Joseph her husband, being just and not willing to expose her publicly, desired to leave her secretly.
20But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in dreams, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
21And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.
22Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
23Behold, a virgin shall conceive and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is God With Us.
24Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him and took unto him his wife
25and knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn son, and he called his name Jesus.
