Isaiah 62
62
Zion’s Coming Salvation
1 # ver. 6, 7 For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not be quiet,
# [Prov. 4:18] until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
and her salvation as a burning torch.
2 # ch. 60:3; Ps. 98:2 The nations shall see your righteousness,
and all the kings your glory,
# ch. 60:14; [Rev. 2:17; 3:12] and you shall be called by a new name
that the mouth of the Lord will give.
3You shall be #Zech. 9:16; [ch. 54:11, 12]a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord,
and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
4 #
Hos. 1:10; 1 Pet. 2:10; See ch. 54:6 You shall no more be termed #ch. 49:14; 54:1, 7; 60:15 Forsaken,#62:4 Hebrew Azubah
and your land shall no more be termed Desolate,#62:4 Hebrew Shemamah
# [See ver. 2 above] but you shall be called #Mal. 3:12My Delight Is in Her,#62:4 Hebrew Hephzibah
and your land Married;#62:4 Hebrew Beulah
for the Lord delights in you,
and your land shall be married.
5For as a young man marries a young woman,
so #[ch. 51:18] shall your sons marry you,
and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
so #ch. 65:19shall your God rejoice over you.
6On your walls, O Jerusalem,
I have set #ch. 52:8; 56:10watchmen;
all the day and all the night
they shall never be silent.
You who put the Lord in remembrance,
take no rest,
7and give him no rest
until he establishes Jerusalem
and makes it #ch. 60:18; [ch. 61:11; Zeph. 3:20]a praise in the earth.
8The Lord has sworn #[Heb. 6:13] by his right hand
and by his mighty arm:
“I will not again give #Deut. 28:33; Jer. 5:17 your grain
to be food for your enemies,
# [ch. 65:21, 22] and foreigners shall not drink your wine
for which you have labored;
9but #[Deut. 12:12; 14:23, 26]those who garner it shall eat it
and praise the Lord,
and #[Deut. 12:12; 14:23, 26]those who gather it shall drink it
in the courts of my sanctuary.”#62:9 Or in my holy courts
10Go through, go through the gates;
# ch. 40:3 prepare the way for the people;
# ch. 57:14 build up, build up the highway;
clear it of stones;
# ch. 11:10; 49:22 lift up a signal over the peoples.
11Behold, the Lord has proclaimed
to the end of the earth:
#
Zech. 9:9; [Matt. 21:5; John 12:15] Say to the daughter of Zion,
# ch. 40:10 “Behold, your salvation comes;
behold, his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.”
12 # ch. 61:6 And they shall be called The Holy People,
The Redeemed of the Lord;
# ver. 4; [ch. 61:4] and you shall be called Sought Out,
A City Not Forsaken.

Isaiah 62
62
Jerusalem Will Be Saved
1Jerusalem, I will speak up
for your good.
I will never be silent
till you are safe and secure,
sparkling like a flame.
2Your great victory will be seen
by every nation and king;
the Lord will even give you
a new name.
3You will be a glorious crown,
a royal headband
for the Lord your God.
4Your name will no longer be
“Deserted and Childless,”
but “Happily Married.”
You will please the Lord;
your country
will be his bride.
5Your people will take the land,#62.5 Your … land: One possible meaning for the difficult Hebrew text.
just as a young man
takes a bride.
The Lord will be pleased
because of you,
just as a husband is pleased
with his bride.
6Jerusalem, on your walls
I have stationed guards,
whose duty it is
to speak out day and night,
without resting.
They must remind the Lord
7and not let him rest
till he makes Jerusalem strong
and famous everywhere.
8The Lord has given his word
and made this promise:
“Never again will I give
to your enemies
the grain and grapes
for which you struggled.
9As surely as you harvest
your grain and grapes,
you will eat your bread
with thankful hearts,
and you will drink your wine
in my temple.”
10People of Jerusalem,
open your gates!
Repair the road to the city
and clear it of stones;
raise a banner to help
the nations find their way.
11 #
Is 40.10; Rev 22.12. Here is what the Lord has said
for all the earth to hear:
“Soon I will come to save
the city of Zion
and to reward you.
12Then you will be called,
‘The Lord's Own People,
The Ones He Rescued!’
Your city will be known
as a good place to live
and a city full of people.”
