St Matthew 28
28
1AND in the end of the sabbath, when it began to dawn towards the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalen and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre.
2And behold there was a great earthquake. For an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and coming, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it.
3And his countenance was as lightning, and his raiment as snow.
4And for fear of him, the guards were struck with terror, and became as dead men.
5And the angel answering, said to the women: Fear not you; for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
6He is not here, for he is risen, as he said. Come, and see the place where the Lord was laid.
7And going quickly, tell ye his disciples that he is risen: and behold he will go before you into Galilee; there you shall see him. Lo, I have foretold it to you.
8And they went out quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy, running to tell his disciples.
9And behold Jesus met them, saying: All hail. But they came up and took hold of his feet, and adored him.
10Then Jesus said to them: Fear not. Go, tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, there they shall see me.
11Who when they were departed, behold some of the guards came into the city, and told the chief priests all things that had been done.
12And they being assembled together with the ancients, taking counsel, gave a great sum of money to the soldiers,
13Saying: Say you, His disciples came by night, and stole him away when we were asleep.
14And if the governor shall hear this, we will persuade him, and secure you.
15So they taking the money, did as they were taught: and this word was spread abroad among the Jews even unto this day.
16And the eleven disciples went into Galilee, unto the mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17And seeing them they adored: but some doubted.
18And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth.
19Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

Matthew 28

Jesus Rises from the Dead
1The day after the Sabbath day was the first day of the week. At dawn on the first day, Mary Magdalene and another woman named Mary went to look at the tomb.
2At that time there was a strong earthquake. An angel of the Lord came down from heaven, went to the tomb, and rolled the stone away from the entrance. Then he sat on the stone. 3He was shining as bright as lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4The soldiers guarding the tomb shook with fear because of the angel, and they became like dead men.
5The angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid. I know that you are looking for Jesus, who has been crucified. 6He is not here. He has risen from the dead as he said he would. Come and see the place where his body was. 7And go quickly and tell his followers, ‘Jesus has risen from the dead. He is going into Galilee ahead of you, and you will see him there.’ ” Then the angel said, “Now I have told you.”
8The women left the tomb quickly. They were afraid, but they were also very happy. They ran to tell Jesus’ followers what had happened. 9Suddenly, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings.” The women came up to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Go and tell my followers to go on to Galilee, and they will see me there.”
The Soldiers Report to the Leaders
11While the women went to tell Jesus’ followers, some of the soldiers who had been guarding the tomb went into the city to tell the leading priests everything that had happened. 12Then the priests met with the elders and made a plan. They paid the soldiers a large amount of money 13and said to them, “Tell the people that Jesus’ followers came during the night and stole the body while you were asleep. 14If the governor hears about this, we will satisfy him and save you from trouble.” 15So the soldiers kept the money and did as they were told. And that story is still spread among the people even today.
Jesus Talks to His Followers
16The eleven followers went to Galilee to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17On the mountain they saw Jesus and worshiped him, but some of them did not believe it was really Jesus. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All power in heaven and on earth is given to me. 19So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20Teach them to obey everything that I have taught you, and I will be with you always, even until the end of this age.”
