Isaias (Isaiah) 25
25
1O Lord, thou art my God. I will exalt thee, and give glory to thy name: for thou hast done wonderful things, thy designs of old, faithful. Amen.
2For thou hast reduced the city to a heap, the strong city to ruin, the house of strangers; to be no city and to be no more built up for ever.
3Therefore shall a strong people praise thee: the city of mighty nations shall fear thee.
4Because thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the whirlwind, a shadow from the heat. For the blast of the mighty is like a whirlwind beating against a wall.
5Thou shalt bring down the tumult of strangers, as heat in thirst: and as with heat under a burning cloud, thou shalt make the branch of the mighty to wither away.
6And the Lord of hosts shall make unto all people, in this mountain, a feast of fat things: a feast of wine, of fat things full of marrow, of wine purified from the lees.
7And he shall destroy in this mountain the face of the bond with which all pie were tied and the web that he over all nations.
8He shall cast death down headlong forever. And the Lord God shall wipe away tears from every face. And the reproach of his people he shall take away from off the whole earth. For the Lord hath spoken it.
9And they shall say in that day: Lo, this is our God: we have waited for him, and he will save us. This is the Lord: we have patiently waited for him, we shall rejoice and be joyful in his salvation.
10For the hand of the Lord shall rest in this mountain: and Moab shall be trodden down under him, as straw is broken in pieces with the wain.
11And he shall stretch forth his hands under him, as he that swimmeth stretcheth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down his glory with the dashing of his hands.
12And the bulwarks of thy high walls shall fall and be brought low, and shall be pulled down to the ground, even to the dust.

Isaiah 25
25
Salvation and Judgment on That Day
1 Lord, you are my God;#Ex 15:2; Ps 118:28; Is 7:13; 44:17
I will exalt you. I will praise your name,
for you have accomplished wonders,
plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.
2For you have turned the city into a pile of rocks,#Is 17:1; 26:5
a fortified city, into ruins;
the fortress of barbarians#Col 3:11 is no longer a city;
it will never be rebuilt.
3Therefore, a strong people will honor you.
The cities of violent nations will fear you.
4For you have been a stronghold for the poor person,
a stronghold for the needy#Mt 11:29 in his distress,
a refuge from storms and a shade from heat.#Is 4:6; 32:2
When the breath of the violent
is like a storm against a wall,
5like heat in a dry land,
you will subdue the uproar of barbarians.
As the shade of a cloud cools the heat of the day,
so he will silence the song of the violent.
6On this mountain,#25:6 = Mount Zion#Is 2:2–4
the Lord of Armies will prepare for all the peoples a feast of choice meat,#Is 24:23; Rv 19:9
a feast with aged wine, prime cuts of choice meat,#25:6 Lit wine, fat full of marrow fine vintage wine.
7On this mountain
he will swallow up the burial shroud,
the shroud over all the peoples,
the sheet covering all the nations.#2Co 3:15–16; Eph 4:18
8When he has swallowed up death once and for all,#Hs 13:14; 1Co 15:54; Rv 21:4
the Lord God will wipe away the tears
from every face#Is 30:19; 35:10; 51:11; 65:19; Rv 7:17; 21:4
and remove his people’s disgrace#Ps 89:50–51; Is 51:7; 54:4; Mt 5:11; 1Pt 4:14
from the whole earth,
for the Lord has spoken.
9On that day it will be said,
“Look, this is our God;
we have waited for him, and he has saved us.
This is the Lord; we have waited for him.
Let’s rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”#Is 35:1–2,10; 66:10
10For the Lord’s power will rest on this mountain.
But Moab#Nm 24:17; Is 15:1 will be trampled in his place#25:10 Or trampled under him
as straw is trampled in a dung pile.
11He will spread out his arms in the middle of it,
as a swimmer spreads out his arms to swim.
His pride will be brought low,
along with the trickery of his hands.#Is 2:10–12,15–17; 16:6,14
12The high-walled fortress will be brought down,
thrown to the ground, to the dust.#Is 26:5–6
