Psalm 1
1
Book I
The Righteous and the Ungodly
1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners,
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2But his delight is in the law of the Lord;
and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Jer 17.8. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4The ungodly are not so:
but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous:
but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psalms 1
1
Book 1
Two Ways to Live
1Happy are those who don’t listen to the wicked,
who don’t go where sinners go,
who don’t do what evil people do.
2They love the Lord’s teachings,
and they think about those teachings day and night.
3They are strong, like a tree planted by a river.
The tree produces fruit in season,
and its leaves don’t die.
Everything they do will succeed.
4But wicked people are not like that.
They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
5So the wicked will not escape God’s punishment.
Sinners will not worship with God’s people.
6This is because the Lord takes care of his people,
but the wicked will be destroyed.
