Isaiah 39
39
1At that time Merodach-Baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent a letter and a present to Hezekiah; for he had heard that he had been sick and had recovered. 2And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver and the gold, and the spices and the fine oil, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found amongst his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah did not shew them. 3Then came the prophet Isaiah to king Hezekiah, and said to him, What said these men? and from whence came they to thee? And Hezekiah said, They came from a far country to me, from Babylon. 4And he said, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah said, All that is in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewn them.
5And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear the word of Jehovah of hosts: 6Behold, days come when all that is in thy house, and that which thy fathers have laid up until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith Jehovah. 7And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, whom thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. 8And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, Good is the word of Jehovah which thou hast spoken. And he said, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

The Delegation from Babylon
1At that time, Merodach-Baladan, son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for#Or “and” he heard that he had been sick and recovered. 2And Hezekiah rejoiced over them and showed them his house of aromatic gum, the silver, gold, spices, good oil, all the house of his weapons, and all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing that Hezekiah had not shown them in his house or in all his dominion. 3And Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, “What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?” And Hezekiah answered,#Literally “said” “They came to me from a distant country, from Babylon.” 4And he#That is, Isaiah said, “What have they seen in your house?” And Hezekiah answered,#Literally “said” “They have seen all that is in my house. 5And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of Yahweh of hosts: 6‘Look! days are coming, and all that is in your house and that which your ancestors#Or “fathers” have stored up to this day shall be carried off to Babylon. Nothing shall be left,’ says Yahweh. 7‘And some of your sons who go out from you, whom you fathered, shall be taken, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’ ” 8And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of Yahweh that you have spoken is good,” for#Or “and” he thought,#Literally “said” “Surely there will be peace and security in my days.”
