Isaiah 25
25
A Hymn of Praise
1 LORD, you are my God;
I will honour you and praise your name.
You have done amazing things;
you have faithfully carried out
the plans you made long ago.
2You have turned cities into ruins
and destroyed their fortifications.
The palaces which our enemies built
are gone for ever.
3The people of powerful nations will praise you;
you will be feared in the cities of cruel nations.
4The poor and the helpless have fled to you
and have been safe in times of trouble.
You give them shelter from storms
and shade from the burning heat.
Cruel enemies attack like a winter storm,#25.4 Probable text winter storm; Hebrew storm against a wall.
5like drought in a dry land.
But you, LORD, have silenced our enemies;
you silence the shouts of cruel people,
as a cloud cools a hot day.
God Prepares a Banquet
6Here on Mount Zion the LORD Almighty will prepare a banquet for all the nations of the world — a banquet of the richest food and the finest wine. 7Here he will suddenly remove the cloud of sorrow that has been hanging over all the nations. 8#1 Cor 15.54; Rev 7.17; 21.4The Sovereign LORD will destroy death for ever! He will wipe away the tears from everyone's eyes and take away the disgrace his people have suffered throughout the world. The LORD himself has spoken!
9When it happens, everyone will say, “He is our God! We have put our trust in him, and he has rescued us. He is the LORD! We have put our trust in him, and now we are happy and joyful because he has saved us.”
God will Punish Moab
10 #
Is 15.1—16.14; Jer 48.1–47; Ezek 25.8–11; Amos 2.1–3; Zeph 2.8–11 The LORD will protect Mount Zion, but the people of Moab will be trampled down, just as straw is trampled in manure. 11They will stretch out their hands as if they were trying to swim, but God will humiliate them, and their hands will sink helplessly. 12He will destroy the fortresses of Moab with their high walls and bring them tumbling down into the dust.

Isaiah 25
25
Song of Praise for God’s Favor
1O Lord, You are my God;
I will exalt You, I will praise and give thanks to Your name;
For You have done miraculous things,
Plans formed long, long ago, [fulfilled] with perfect faithfulness.
2For You have made a city into a heap [of trash],
A fortified city into a ruin;
A palace of #Or strangers.foreigners is no longer a city,
It will never be rebuilt.
3Therefore a strong people will honor You;
Cities of terrible and violent nations will fear You.
4For You have been a stronghold for the helpless,
A stronghold for the poor in his distress,
A shelter from the storm, a shade from the heat;
For the breath of tyrants
Is like a rainstorm against a wall.
5Like heat in a dry land, You will subdue the noise of foreigners [rejoicing over their enemies];
Like heat in the shadow of a cloud, the song of the tyrants is #Lit humbled.silenced.
6On this mountain [Zion] the Lord of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples [to welcome His reign on earth],
A banquet of aged wines—choice pieces [flavored] with marrow,
Of refined, aged wines.
7And on this mountain He will destroy the covering that is [cast] over all peoples,
And the veil [of death] that is woven and spread over all the nations.
8He will swallow up death [and abolish it] for all time.
And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
And He will take away the disgrace of His people from all the earth;
For the Lord has spoken.
9It will be said in that day,
“Indeed, this is our God for whom we have waited that He would save us.
This is the Lord for whom we have waited;
Let us shout for joy and rejoice in His salvation.”
10For the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain [Zion],
And Moab will be trampled down in his place
As straw is trampled down in the [filthy] water of a manure pile.
11And Moab will spread out his hands in the middle of the filth
As a swimmer spreads out his hands to swim,
But the Lord will humiliate his pride in spite of the [skillful] movements of his hands.
12The high fortifications of your walls He will bring down,
Lay low, and cast to the ground, to the dust.
