Malachi 4
4
1“That time of judgment is coming. It will be like a hot furnace. All the proud people will be punished. All the evil people will burn like straw. At that time they will be like a bush burning in the fire, and there will not be a branch or root left.” This is what the Lord All-Powerful said.
2“But, for my followers, goodness will shine on you like the rising sun. And it will bring healing power like the sun’s rays. You will be free and happy, like calves freed from their stalls.#4:2 stalls Small rooms or areas surrounded by a fence where people keep their animals. 3Then you will walk on the evil people—they will be like ashes under your feet. I will make this happen at the time of judgment.” This is what the Lord All-Powerful said.
4“Remember and obey the law of my servant Moses. I gave those laws and rules to him at Mount Horeb. They are for all the people of Israel.
5“Look, I will send Elijah the prophet to you. He will come before that great and terrible time of judgment from the Lord. 6Elijah will help the parents become close to their children, and he will help the children become close to their parents. This must happen, or I will come and completely destroy your country.”

The day of judgment
The LORD said:
1The day of judgment is certain to come. And it will be like a red-hot furnace with flames that burn up proud and sinful people, as though they were straw. Not a branch or a root will be left. I, the LORD All-Powerful, have spoken! 2But for you who honour my name, victory will shine like the sun with healing in its rays, and you will jump around like calves at play. 3When I come to bring justice, you will trample those who are evil, as though they were ashes under your feet. I, the LORD All-Powerful, have spoken!
4Don't ever forget the laws and teachings I gave my servant Moses on Mount Sinai.#4.4 Sinai: Hebrew “Horeb”.
5I, the LORD, promise to send the prophet Elijah before that great and terrible day comes.#Mt 11.14; 17.10-13; Mk 9.11-13; Lk 1.17; Jn 1.21. 6He will lead children and parents to love each other more, so that when I come, I won't bring doom to the land.
