Exodus 24

The People Agree To Obey God
1The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on this mountain. Bring along Aaron, as well as his two sons Nadab and Abihu, and 70 of Israel's leaders. They must worship me at a distance, 2but you are to come near. Don't let anyone else come up.”
3Moses gave the Lord's instructions to the people, and they all promised, “We will do everything the Lord has commanded!” 4Then Moses wrote down what the Lord had said.
The next morning Moses got up early. He built an altar at the foot of the mountain and set up a large stone for each of the twelve tribes of Israel. 5He also sent some young men to burn offerings and to sacrifice bulls as special offerings#24.5 special offerings: Often translated “peace offerings,” which were to make peace between God and his people, who ate certain parts of the sacrificed animal. to the Lord. 6Moses put half of the blood from the animals into bowls and sprinkled the rest on the altar. 7Then he read aloud the Lord's commands and promises, and the people shouted, “We will obey the Lord and do everything he has commanded!”

Mt 26.28; Mk 14.24; Lk 22.20; 1 Co 11.25; He 10.29;
He 9.19,20. Moses took the blood from the bowls and sprinkled it on the people. Next, he told them, “With this blood the Lord makes his agreement with you.”
9Moses and Aaron, together with Nadab and Abihu and the 70 leaders, went up the mountain 10and saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was something that looked like a pavement made out of sapphire,#24.10 sapphire: A precious stone, blue in color. and it was as bright as the sky.
11Even though these leaders of Israel saw God, he did not punish them. So they ate and drank.
Moses on Mount Sinai
12The Lord said to Moses, “Come up on the mountain and stay here for a while. I will give you the two flat stones on which I have written the laws that my people must obey.” 13Moses and Joshua his assistant got ready, then Moses started up the mountain to meet with God.
14Moses had told the leaders, “Wait here until we come back. Aaron and Hur will be with you, and they can settle any arguments while we are away.”
15When Moses went up on Mount Sinai, a cloud covered it, 16and the bright glory of the Lord came down and stayed there. The cloud covered the mountain for six days, and on the seventh day the Lord told Moses to come into the cloud. 17-18#Dt 9.9-11. Moses did so and stayed there 40 days and nights. To the people, the Lord's glory looked like a blazing fire on top of the mountain.

Exodus 24
24
1And unto Moses He said, ‘Come up unto Jehovah, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and ye have bowed yourselves afar off;’
2and Moses hath drawn nigh by himself unto Jehovah; and they draw not nigh, and the people go not up with him.
3And Moses cometh in, and recounteth to the people all the words of Jehovah, and all the judgments, and all the people answer — one voice, and say, ‘All the words which Jehovah hath spoken we do.’
4And Moses writeth all the words of Jehovah, and riseth early in the morning, and buildeth an altar under the hill, and twelve standing pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel;
5and he sendeth the youths of the sons of Israel, and they cause burnt-offerings to ascend, and sacrifice sacrifices of peace-offerings to Jehovah — calves.
6And Moses taketh half of the blood, and putteth in basins, and half of the blood hath he sprinkled on the altar;
7and he taketh the Book of the Covenant, and proclaimeth in the ears of the people, and they say, ‘All that which Jehovah hath spoken we do, and obey.’
8And Moses taketh the blood, and sprinkleth on the people, and saith, ‘Lo, the blood of the covenant which Jehovah hath made with you, concerning all these things.’
9And Moses goeth up, Aaron also, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel,
10and they see the God of Israel, and under His feet [is] as the white work of the sapphire, and as the substance of the heavens for purity;
11and unto those of the sons of Israel who are near He hath not put forth His hand, and they see God, and eat and drink.
12And Jehovah saith unto Moses, ‘Come up unto Me to the mount, and be there, and I give to thee the tables of stone, and the law, and the command, which I have written to direct them.’
13And Moses riseth — Joshua his minister also — and Moses goeth up unto the mount of God;
14and unto the elders he hath said, ‘Abide ye for us in this [place], until that we turn back unto you, and lo, Aaron and Hur [are] with you — he who hath matters doth come nigh unto them.’
15And Moses goeth up unto the mount, and the cloud covereth the mount;
16and the honour of Jehovah doth tabernacle on mount Sinai, and the cloud covereth it six days, and He calleth unto Moses on the seventh day from the midst of the cloud.
17And the appearance of the honour of Jehovah [is] as a consuming fire on the top of the mount, before the eyes of the sons of Israel;
18and Moses goeth into the midst of the cloud, and goeth up unto the mount, and Moses is on the mount forty days and forty nights.
