Psalm 7
In You I Have Taken Refuge
A #7:0 Possibly a wild, passionate, and animated songShiggaion of David, which he sang to Yahweh concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite.
1O Yahweh my God, in You I have taken refuge;
Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,
2Lest he tear #7:2 Or memy soul like a lion,
Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
3¶O Yahweh my God, if I have done this,
If there is injustice in my hands,
4If I have rewarded evil to him who #7:4 Lit wasis at peace with me,
Or have plundered my adversary without cause,
5Let the enemy pursue #7:5 Or memy soul and overtake #7:5 Or meit;
And let him trample my life down to the ground
And cause my glory to dwell in the dust. #7:5 Selah may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical InterludeSelah.
6¶Arise, O Yahweh, in Your anger;
Lift up Yourself against the fury of my adversaries,
And arouse Yourself #7:6 One ancient version O my Godfor me; You have appointed judgment.
7Let the congregation of the peoples encompass You,
And over #7:7 Lit itthem return on high.
8Yahweh judges the peoples;
# 7:8 Lit Judge Give justice to me, O Yahweh, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.
9O let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous;
For the righteous God tests the hearts and #7:9 Lit kidneys, figurative for inner manminds.
10My shield is #7:10 Lit uponwith God,
Who saves the upright in heart.
11God is a righteous judge,
And a God who has indignation every day.
12¶If #7:12 Lit hea man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword;
He has bent His bow and prepared it.
13He has also prepared #7:13 Or His deadly weaponsfor Himself deadly weapons;
He makes His arrows fiery shafts.
14Behold, he travails with wickedness,
And he conceives mischief and gives birth to falsehood.
15He has dug a pit and hollowed it out,
And has fallen into the hole which he made.
16His mischief will return upon his own head,
And his violence will descend upon #7:16 The crown of his own headhis own skull.
17¶I will give thanks to Yahweh according to His righteousness
And will sing praise to the name of Yahweh Most High.
