Psalm 129
Yahweh Has Cut the Cords of the Wicked
A Song of Ascents.
1“#129:1 Lit MuchMany times they have #129:1 Lit showed hostility towardassailed me from my youth up,”
Let Israel now say,
2“#129:2 Lit MuchMany times they have #129:2 Lit showed hostility towardassailed me from my youth up;
Yet they have not prevailed against me.
3“The plowers plowed upon my back;
They lengthened their furrows.”
4Yahweh is righteous;
He has cut up the cords of the wicked.
5¶Let all who hate Zion
Be put to shame and turned backward;
6Let them be like grass upon the rooftops,
Which dries up before it #129:6 Lit draws outgrows up;
7With which the reaper does not fill his #129:7 Lit palmhand,
Nor the binder of sheaves the fold of his garment;
8And those who pass by will not say,
“The blessing of Yahweh be upon you;
We bless you in the name of Yahweh.”
