Psalm 106
Remember Me, O Yahweh
1 # 106:1 Or Hallelujah! Praise Yah!
Oh give thanks to Yahweh, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
2Who can speak of the mighty deeds of Yahweh,
Or can make all His praise to be heard?
3How blessed are those who keep #106:3 Lit judgmentjustice,
# 106:3 Many Heb mss The one who performs And he who does righteousness at all times!
4¶Remember me, O Yahweh, in Your favor #106:4 Lit oftoward Your people;
Visit me with Your salvation,
5That I may see the goodness of Your chosen ones,
That I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation,
That I may boast with Your #106:5 Peopleinheritance.
6¶We have sinned with our fathers,
We have committed iniquity, we have acted wickedly.
7Our fathers in Egypt did not consider Your wondrous deeds;
They did not remember Your abundant lovingkindnesses,
But they rebelled by the sea, at the #106:7 Lit Sea of ReedsRed Sea.
8Yet He saved them for the sake of His name,
That He might make His might known.
9Thus He rebuked the #106:9 Lit Sea of ReedsRed Sea and it dried up,
And He led them through the deeps, as through the wilderness.
10So He saved them from the #106:10 Or powerhand of the one who hated them,
And redeemed them from the #106:10 Or powerhand of the enemy.
11The waters covered their adversaries;
Not one of them was left.
12Then they believed His words;
They sang His praise.
13¶They quickly forgot His works;
They did not wait for His counsel,
14But craved intensely in the wilderness,
And put God to the test in the wasteland.
15So He gave them their request,
But sent a #106:15 Or leanness into their soulwasting disease against their lives.
16¶Then they became envious of Moses in the camp,
And of Aaron, the holy one of Yahweh,
17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
And covered up the #106:17 Or assembly, bandcompany of Abiram.
18And a fire burned up in their company;
The flame consumed the wicked.
19¶They made a calf in Horeb
And worshiped a molten image.
20Thus they exchanged their glory
For the image of an ox that eats grass.
21They forgot God their Savior,
Who had done great things in Egypt,
22Wondrous deeds in the land of Ham
And awesome things by the #106:22 Lit Sea of ReedsRed Sea.
23Therefore He said that He would destroy them,
Had not Moses His chosen one stood in the breach before Him,
To turn away His wrath from #106:23 Or bringing them to ruineradicating them.
24Then they despised the pleasant land;
They did not believe in His word,
25But grumbled in their tents;
They did not listen to the voice of Yahweh.
26So He #106:26 Or swore against; lit lifted up His handswore to them
To make them fall in the wilderness,
27And to make their seed fall among the nations
And to scatter them in the lands.
28¶They then joined themselves to #106:28 Or Baal of PeorBaal-peor,
And ate sacrifices offered to the dead.
29Thus they provoked Him to anger with their actions,
And the plague broke out among them.
30Then Phinehas stood up and interceded,
And so the plague was checked.
31And it was counted to him for righteousness,
From generation to generation forever.
32¶They also provoked Him to wrath at the waters of #106:32 Lit strifeMeribah,
So that it went badly with Moses on their account;
33Because they were rebellious against #106:33 Or his spiritHis Spirit,
He spoke rashly with his lips.
34¶They did not destroy the peoples,
As Yahweh commanded them,
35But they mingled with the nations
And learned their works,
36And served their idols,
Which became a snare to them.
37They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons,
38And they shed innocent blood,
The blood of their sons and their daughters,
Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;
And the land was polluted with the blood.
39Thus they became unclean in their works,
And played the harlot in their actions.
40¶So the anger of Yahweh was kindled against His people
And He abhorred His #106:40 Peopleinheritance.
41Then He gave them into the hand of the #106:41 Or Gentilesnations,
And those who hated them ruled over them.
42Their enemies oppressed them,
And they were subdued under their hand.
43Many times He would deliver them;
But they were rebellious in their counsel,
And so they sank down in their iniquity.
44¶Nevertheless He looked upon their distress
When He heard their cry of lamentation;
45And He remembered for them His covenant,
And #106:45 Lit was sorryrelented according to the abundance of His lovingkindness.
46He also made them objects of compassion
In the presence of all their captors.
47¶Save us, O Yahweh our God,
And gather us from among the nations,
To give thanks to Your holy name
And revel in Your praise.
48Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel,
From everlasting to everlasting.
And let all the people say, “Amen.”
