1 Corinthians 1
1
1From Paul, chosen by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from Sosthenes, who is also a follower.
2 #
Ac 18.1. To God's church in Corinth. Christ Jesus chose you to be his very own people, and you worship in his name, as we and all others do who call him Lord.
3My prayer is that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!
4I never stop thanking my God for treating you with undeserved grace by giving you Christ Jesus, 5who helps you speak and understand so well. 6Now you are certain that everything we told you about our Lord Christ Jesus is true. 7You are not missing out on any blessings, as you wait for him to return. 8And until the day Christ does return, he will keep you completely innocent. 9God can be trusted, and he chose you to be partners with his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Taking Sides
10My dear friends, as a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, I beg you to get along with each other. Don't take sides. Always try to agree in what you think. 11Several people from Chloe's family#1.11 family: Family members and possibly slaves and others who may have lived in the house. have already reported to me that you keep arguing with each other. 12#Ac 18.24. They have said that some of you claim to follow me, while others claim to follow Apollos or Peter#1.12 Peter: The Greek text has “Cephas,” which is an Aramaic name meaning “rock.” Peter is the Greek name with the same meaning. or Christ.
13Has Christ been divided up? Was I nailed to a cross for you? Were you baptized in my name? 14#Ac 18.8; Ac 19.29; Ro 16.23,24. I thank God#1.14 I thank God: Some manuscripts have “I thank my God.” that I didn't baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius. 15Not one of you can say that you were baptized in my name. 16#1 Co 16.15. I did baptize the family#1.16 family: See the note at 1.11. of Stephanas, but I don't remember if I baptized anyone else. 17Christ did not send me to baptize. He sent me to tell the good news without using words that sound wise and would make the cross of Christ lose its power.
Christ Is God's Power and Wisdom
18The message about the cross doesn't make any sense to lost people. But for those of us who are being saved, it is God's power at work. 19#Is 29.14 (LXX). As God says in the Scriptures,
“I will destroy the wisdom
of all who claim
to be wise.
I will confuse those
who think they know
so much.”
20 #
Job 12.17; Is 19.12; 33.18;
Is 44.25. What happened to those wise people? What happened to those experts in the Scriptures? What happened to the ones who think they have all the answers? Didn't God show that the wisdom of this world is foolish? 21#Ws 13.1-9. God was wise and decided not to let the people of this world use their wisdom to learn about him.
Instead, God chose to save only those who believe the foolish message we preach. 22Jews ask for miracles, and Greeks want something that sounds wise. 23But we preach that Christ was nailed to a cross. Most Jews have problems with this, and most Gentiles think it is foolish. 24Our message is God's power and wisdom for the Jews and the Greeks that he has chosen. 25Even when God is foolish, he is wiser than everyone else, and even when God is weak, he is stronger than everyone else.
26My dear friends, remember what you were when God chose you. The people of this world didn't think that many of you were wise. Only a few of you were in places of power, and not many of you came from important families. 27But God chose the foolish things of this world to put the wise to shame. He chose the weak things of this world to put the powerful to shame.
28What the world thinks is worthless, useless, and nothing at all is what God has used to destroy what the world considers important. 29God did all this to keep anyone from bragging to him. 30You are God's children. He sent Christ Jesus to save us and to make us wise, acceptable, and holy. 31#Jr 9.24. So if you want to brag, do what the Scriptures say and brag about the Lord.

Qorintiyim Aleph (1 Corinthians) 1
1
1Sha’ul, a called emissary of יהושע Messiah by the desire of Elohim, and brother Sosthenes,
2to the assembly of Elohim which is at Corinth, to those who are set-apart in Messiah יהושע, called set-apart ones, with all those calling on the Name of יהושע Messiah our Master in every place, theirs and ours:
3Favour to you and peace from Elohim our Father and the Master יהושע Messiah.
4I thank my Elohim always concerning you for the favour of Elohim which was given to you by Messiah יהושע,
5that in Him you were enriched in all – in every word and all knowledge –
6as the witness of Messiah was confirmed in you,
7so that you are not lacking in any gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Master יהושע Messiah,
8who shall also confirm you to the end, unreprovable in the day of our Master יהושע Messiah.
9Elohim is trustworthy, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, יהושע Messiah our Master.
10And I appeal to you, brothers, by the Name of our Master יהושע Messiah, that you all agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be knit together in the same mind and in the same opinion.
11For I have been informed concerning you, my brothers, by those of the house of Chloe, that there are strifes among you.
12What I mean is this, that each one of you says, “I am of Sha’ul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Kĕpha,” or “I am of Messiah.”
13Has the Messiah been divided? Was Sha’ul impaled for you? Or were you immersed in the name of Sha’ul?
14I thank Elohim that I immersed not one of you except Crispus and Gaios,
15that no one should say that I immersed into my own name.
16Now I did also immerse the household of Stephanas. For the rest, I do not know whether I immersed anyone else.
17For Messiah did not send me to immerse, but to bring the Good News, not with wisdom of words, that the stake of Messiah should not be nullified.
18For the word of the stake is indeed foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of Elohim.
19For it has been written, “I shall destroy the wisdom of the wise, and set aside the learning of the learned ones.”# Isa. 29:14#See Mat. 11:25; Rom. 1:22
20Where is the wise? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Has not Elohim made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21For since, in the wisdom of Elohim, the world through wisdom did not know Elohim, it pleased Elohim through the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe.
22And since Yehuḏim ask a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,
23yet we proclaim Messiah impaled, to the Yehuḏim a stumbling-block and to the Greeks foolishness,
24but to those who are called – both Yehuḏim and Greeks – Messiah the power of Elohim and the wisdom of Elohim.
25For the foolishness of Elohim is wiser than men, and the weakness of Elohim is stronger than men.
26For look at your calling, brothers, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble.
27But Elohim has chosen the foolish matters of the world to put to shame the wise, and Elohim has chosen the weak of the world to put to shame the strong.
28And Elohim has chosen the low-born of the world and the despised, and the ones that are not, that He might bring to naught the ones that are,
29so that no flesh should boast in His presence.
30And of Him you are in Messiah יהושע, who became for us wisdom from Elohim, righteousness also, and set-apartness and redemption,
31that, as it has been written, “He who boasts, let him boast in יהוה.”# Jer. 9:23, 24
