Isaiah 15
15
XV
1THE ORACLE CONCERNING MOAB.
Surely in a destructive night shall Ar of Moab be cut off;
Surely in a destructive night shall Kir of Moab be cut off.
2He goeth up to Bajith and to Debon, the high places, to weep:
Over Nebo, and over Medeba, shall Moab howl:
On every head there is baldness; every beard is shorn.
3In their streets they gird themselves with sackcloth;
On their house-tops, and in their main-streets,
Every one shrieketh, melting into tears.
4And Heshbon crieth out, and Elealeh;
Unto Jahaz is their voice heard:
Therefore do the warriors of Moab wail;
Their soul shuddereth within them.
5My heart crieth out for Moab,
Her fugitives wander even unto Zoar,
Unto Eglath-Schalischiia;
Yea the ascent of Luhith with weeping shall they ascend;
Yea in the way of Horonaim shall they raise a cry of destruction.
6For the waters of Nimrim shall become desolate:
For the pasture is withered, the tender plant faileth, the green herb is no more.
7Therefore the remnant which they possess,
And that which they have laid up;
Shall they carry off to the valley of willows.
8For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab;
Unto Eglaim her lamentation;
And to Beer-Elim her lamentation.
9Yea the waters of Dimon are full of blood:
Yet will I bring more evils upon Dimon;
Upon them of Moab that shall have escaped a lion,
And upon the remnant of the land.

Isaiah 15

CHAPTER 15
1The burden of Moab. For Ar was destroyed in night, Moab was still; for the wall was destroyed in the night, Moab was still.
2The king’s house, and Dibon ascended [or went up] to high places, into wailing; on Nebo, and on Medeba, Moab shall yell. In all heads thereof shall be baldness, and each beard shall be shaved.
3In the meeting of three ways thereof they be girded in a sackcloth, all yelling on the houses thereof, and in the streets thereof; it shall go down into weeping.
4Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh, the voice of them is heard till to Jahaz; on this thing the ready men of Moab shall yell, the soul thereof shall yell to itself.
5Mine heart shall cry to Moab, the bars thereof till to Zoar, a cow calf of three years. For why a weeper shall go up by the going up of Luhith, and in the way of Horonaim they shall raise cry of sorrow [or contrition].
6For why the waters of Nimrim shall be forsaken; for the herb dried up, burgeoning failed, all greenness perished.
7By the greatness of work, and the visiting of them, to the strand [or stream] of sallows they shall lead them.
8For why their cry compassed the end of Moab; till to Eglaim the yelling thereof, and the cry thereof till to the well of Elim.
9For the waters of Dimon be filled with blood; for I shall set increasings on Dimon, to those men of Moab that fled from the lion, and to the remnants of the land.
