1 Corinthians 2

The Message about the Crucified Christ
1When I came to you, my brothers and sisters, to preach God's secret truth,#2.1 God's secret truth; some manuscripts have the testimony about God. I did not use big words and great learning. 2For while I was with you, I made up my mind to forget everything except Jesus Christ and especially his death on the cross. 3#Acts 18.9So when I came to you, I was weak and trembled all over with fear, 4and my teaching and message were not delivered with skilful words of human wisdom, but with convincing proof of the power of God's Spirit. 5Your faith, then, does not rest on human wisdom but on God's power.
God's Wisdom
6Yet I do proclaim a message of wisdom to those who are spiritually mature. But it is not the wisdom that belongs to this world or to the powers that rule this world — powers that are losing their power. 7The wisdom I proclaim is God's hidden wisdom, which he had already chosen for our glory even before the world was made. 8None of the rulers of this world knew this wisdom. If they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9#Is 64.4However, as the scripture says:
“What no one ever saw or heard,
what no one ever thought could happen,
is the very thing God prepared for those who love him.”
10But#2.10 But; some manuscripts have For. it was to us that God made known his secret by means of his Spirit. The Spirit searches everything, even the hidden depths of God's purposes. 11It is only the spirit within people that knows all about them; in the same way, only God's Spirit knows all about God. 12We have not received this world's spirit; instead, we have received the Spirit sent by God, so that we may know all that God has given us.
13So then, we do not speak in words taught by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, as we explain spiritual truths to those who have the Spirit.#2.13 to those who have the Spirit; or with words given by the Spirit. 14Whoever does not have the Spirit cannot receive the gifts that come from God's Spirit. Such people really do not understand them; they are nonsense to them, because their value can be judged only on a spiritual basis. 15Whoever has the Spirit, however, is able to judge the value of everything, but no one is able to judge him. 16#Is 40.13 (LXX)As the scripture says:
“Who knows the mind of the Lord?
Who is able to give him advice?”
We, however, have the mind of Christ.

1 Cor 1.17. When I came to you, brethren, I did not come proclaiming to you the testimony#2.1 Other ancient authorities read mystery (or secret) of God in lofty words or wisdom. 2#Gal 6.14; 1 Cor 1.23. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3#Acts 18.1,6,12; 1 Cor 4.10; 2 Cor 11.30. And I was with you in weakness and in much fear and trembling; 4#Rom 15.19; 1 Cor 4.20. and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5#2 Cor 4.7; 6.7; 1 Cor 12.9. that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Eph 4.13. Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. 7#Rom 8.29-30. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glorification. 8#Acts 7.2; Jas 2.1. None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9#Is 64.4; 65.17. But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man conceived,
what God has prepared for those who love him,”

Mt 11.25; 13.11; 16.17; Eph 3.3,5. God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11For what person knows a man's thoughts except the spirit of the man which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12#Rom 8.15. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. 13#1 Cor 1.17. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit.#2.13 Or interpreting spiritual truths in spiritual language; or comparing spiritual things with spiritual

1 Cor 1.18; Jas 3.15. The unspiritual#2.14 Or natural man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15#1 Cor 3.1; 14.37; Gal 6.1. The spiritual man judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16#Is 40.13; Rom 11.34. “For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
