CHAPTER 10
1These be the generations of the sons of Noah; Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And sons were born to them after the great flood.
2The sons of Japheth were Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
3Forsooth the sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
4Forsooth the sons of Javan were Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim;
5of these sons the isles of the heathen men were parted in their countries, each by his language, and meines, in his nations.
6Soothly the sons of Ham were Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.
7Forsooth the sons of Cush were Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah. The sons of Raamah were Sheba, and Dedan.
8Forsooth Cush begat Nimrod; he began to be mighty in [the] earth,
9and he was a strong hunter, or oppressor, of men before the Lord; of him a proverb went out, As Nimrod, a strong hunter before the Lord.
10Soothly the beginning of his realm was Babylon, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11Asshur went out of that land, and builded Nineveh, and [the] streets of the city, and Calah,
12and Resen betwixt Nineveh and Calah; this is a great city.
13And soothly Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,
14and Pathrusim, and Casluhim; of which the Philistines and Caphtorim came forth.
15Forsooth Canaan engendered Sidon, his first engendered son, Heth,
16and Jebusites, and Amorites, Girgashites,
17Hivites, and Arkites, Sinites,
18and Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites; and [the] peoples of Canaanites were sown abroad by these men.
19And the terms of Canaan were made to men coming from Sidon to Gerar, till to Gaza, till thou enter into Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboiim, till to Lasha.
20These were the sons of Ham, in their kindreds, and languages, and generations, and lands, and folks.
21Also of Shem were born the fathers of all the sons of Eber, and Japheth was the more, or elder, brother of Shem [or Shem was the more or elder brother of Japheth].
22The sons of Shem were Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
23The sons of Aram were Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.
24And soothly Arphaxad begat Salah, of whom Eber was born.
25And two sons were born to Eber, the name to the one son was Peleg, for the land was parted in his days; and the name of his brother was Joktan.
26And that Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27and Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,
28and Obal, and Abimael, Sheba,
29and Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.
30And the habitation of them was made from Mesha, as men goeth till to Sephar, an hill of the east.
31These be the sons of Shem, by kindreds, and languages, and countries, in their folks.
32These be the meines of Noah, by their peoples, and nations; [the] folks [or Gentiles] in [the] earth were parted of these after the great flood.

The Descendants of Noah's Sons
(1 Chr 1.5–23)
1These are the descendants of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. These three had sons after the flood.
2The sons of Japheth — Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras — were the ancestors of the peoples who bear their names. 3The descendants of Gomer were the people of Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. 4The descendants of Javan were the people of Elishah, Spain, Cyprus, and Rhodes; 5they were the ancestors of the people who live along the coast and on the islands. These are the descendants of Japheth, living in their different tribes and countries, each group speaking its own language.
6The sons of Ham — Cush, Egypt, Libya and Canaan — were the ancestors of the peoples who bear their names. 7The descendants of Cush were the people of Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah were the people of Sheba and Dedan. 8Cush had a son named Nimrod, who became the world's first great conqueror. 9By the LORD's help he was a great hunter, and that is why people say, “May the LORD make you as great a hunter as Nimrod!” 10At first his kingdom included Babylon, Erech, and Accad, all three of them in Babylonia. 11From that land he went to Assyria and built the cities of Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah, 12and Resen, which is between Nineveh and the great city of Calah.
13The descendants of Egypt were the people of Lydia, Anam, Lehab, Naphtuh, 14Pathrus, Casluh, and of Crete, from whom the Philistines are descended.#10.14 Probable text and of Cretedescended; Hebrew from whom the Philistines are descended, and Crete.
15Canaan's sons — Sidon, the eldest, and Heth — were the ancestors of the peoples who bear their names. 16Canaan was also the ancestor of the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, 17the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, 18the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. The different tribes of the Canaanites spread out, 19until the Canaanite borders reached from Sidon southwards to Gerar near Gaza, and eastwards to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim near Lasha. 20These are the descendants of Ham, living in their different tribes and countries, each group speaking its own language.
21Shem, the elder brother of Japheth, was the ancestor of all the Hebrews. 22Shem's sons — Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram — were the ancestors of the peoples who bear their names. 23The descendants of Aram were the people of Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshek. 24Arpachshad was the father of Shelah, who was the father of Eber. 25Eber had two sons: one was named Peleg,#10.25 Peleg: This name sounds like the Hebrew for “divide”. because during his time the people of the world were divided; and the other was named Joktan. 26The descendants of Joktan were the people of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All of them were descended from Joktan. 30The land in which they lived extended from Mesha to Sephar in the eastern hill country. 31These are the descendants of Shem, living in their different tribes and countries, each group speaking its own language.
32All these peoples are the descendants of Noah, nation by nation, according to their different lines of descent. After the flood all the nations of the earth were descended from the sons of Noah.
