1st Corinthians 3
3
CHAPTER 3
1And I, brethren, might not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to fleshly men; as to little children in Christ,
2I gave to you milk to drink, not meat; for ye might not yet under-stand, neither ye may now,
3for yet ye be fleshly. For while envy and strife is among you, whether ye be not fleshly, and ye go after man?
4For when some saith, I am of Paul, and another, But I am of Apollos, whether ye be not [fleshly] men?
5What therefore is Apollos, and what Paul? They be ministers of him, to whom ye have believed; and to each man as God hath given.
6I planted, Apollos moisted, but God gave increasing.
7Therefore neither he that planteth is anything, neither he that moisteth, but God that giveth increasing.
8And he that planteth, and he that moisteth, be one; and each shall take his own meed, after his travail.
9For we be the helpers of God; ye be the earth-tilling of God, ye be the building of God.
10After the grace of God that is given to me, as a wise master carpenter I setted the foundament; and another buildeth above. But each man see, how he buildeth above [or how and what things he buildeth upon].
11For no man may set another foundament, except [or besides] that that is set, which is Christ Jesus.
12For if any man buildeth over [or upon] this foundament, gold, silver, precious stones, sticks, hay, or stubble,
13every man’s work shall be open; for the day of the Lord shall declare, for it shall be showed in fire; the fire shall prove the work of each man, what manner work it is.
14If the work of any man dwell still, which he builded above [or upon], he shall receive meed.
15If any man’s work burn, he shall suffer harm, either impairing; but he shall be safe, so nevertheless as by fire.
16Know ye not, that ye be the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17And if any [man] defouleth the temple of God, God shall lose him; for the temple of God is holy, which ye be.
18No man deceive himself. If any man among you is seen to be wise in this world, be he made a fool, that he be wise.
19For the wisdom of this world is folly with God; for it is written, I shall catch wise men in their fell wisdom, [or subtle guile];
20and again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of wise men, for those be vain.
21Therefore no man have glory in men. For all things be yours,
22either Paul, either Apollos, either Cephas, either the world, either life, either death, either things present, either things to coming [or to come]; for all things be yours,
23and ye be of Christ, and Christ is of God.

1 Corinthians 3
3
You Belong to Christ
1Brothers and sisters, I couldn’t talk to you as spiritual people but as people still influenced by your corrupt nature. You were infants in your faith in Christ. 2I gave you milk to drink. I didn’t give you solid food because you weren’t ready for it. Even now you aren’t ready for it 3because you’re still influenced by your corrupt nature.
When you are jealous and quarrel among yourselves, aren’t you influenced by your corrupt nature and living by human standards? 4When some of you say, “I follow Paul” and others say, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting like ⌞sinful⌟ humans? 5Who is Apollos? Who is Paul? They are servants who helped you come to faith. Each did what the Lord gave him to do. 6I planted, and Apollos watered, but God made it grow. 7So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is important because ⌞only⌟ God makes it grow. 8The one who plants and the one who waters have the same goal, and each will receive a reward for his own work. 9We are God’s coworkers. You are God’s field.
You are God’s building. 10As a skilled and experienced builder, I used the gift #3:10 Or “grace.” that God gave me to lay the foundation ⌞for that building⌟. However, someone else is building on it. Each person must be careful how he builds on it. 11After all, no one can lay any other foundation than the one that is already laid, and that foundation is Jesus Christ. 12People may build on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw. 13The day will make what each one does clearly visible because fire will reveal it. That fire will determine what kind of work each person has done. 14If what a person has built survives, he will receive a reward. 15If his work is burned up, he will suffer ⌞the loss⌟. However, he will be saved, though it will be like going through a fire.
16Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? 17If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him because God’s temple is holy. You are that holy temple!
18Don’t deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise in the ways of this world, you should give up that wisdom in order to become really wise. 19The wisdom of this world is nonsense in God’s sight. That’s why Scripture says, “God catches the wise in their cleverness.” 20Again Scripture says, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are pointless.”
21So don’t brag about people. Everything belongs to you. 22Whether it is Paul, Apollos, Cephas, the world, life or death, present or future things, everything belongs to you. 23You belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.
