Isaiah 44
44
1Yet now hear, O Ya’akov [Heal of God] my servant; and Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God], whom I have chosen:
2Thus says the Lord-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) that made youi, and formed youi from the womb, [which] will help youi; Fear not, O Ya’akov [Heal of God], my servant; and youi, Yeshurun [upright one], whom I have chosen.
3For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon youi seed, and my blessing upon youi offspring:
4And they shall spring up [as] among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
5One shall say, I [am] the Lord-Yehōvah’s [Messiah Pre-Incarnate]; and another shall call [himself] by the name of Ya’akov [Heal of God]; and another shall subscribe [with] his hand unto the Lord-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), and surname [himself] by the name of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God].
6Thus says the Lord-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) the King of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God], and his redeemer the Lord-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) Tz’va’ot [of the Heavenly Armies]; I [am] the first, and I [am] the last; and beside me [there is] no God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered].
7And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them show unto them.
8Fear you2f not, neither be afraid: have not I told youi from that time, and have declared [it]? you2f [are] even my witnesses. Is there a God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] beside me? yes, [there is] no God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered]; I know not [any].
9They that make a graven image [are] all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they [are] their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
10Who has formed a god, or molten a graven image [that] is profitable for nothing?
11Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they [are] of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; [yet] they shall fear, [and] they shall be ashamed together.
12The smith with the tongs both works in the coals, and fashions it with hammers, and works it with the strength of his arms: yes, he is hungry, and his strength fails: he drink no water, and is faint.
13The carpenter stretches out [his] rule; he marks it out with a line; he fits it with planes, and he marks it out with the compass (go around, encircle; encompass), and makes it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
14He hews him down cedars, and takes the cypress and the oak, which he strengthens for himself among the trees of the forest: he plants an ash, and the rain does nourish [it].
15Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yes, he kindles [it], and bakes bread; yes, he makes a god, and worships [it]; he makes it a graven image, and falls down thereto.
16He burns part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eats flesh; he roasts roast, and is satisfied: yes, he warms [himself], and says, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:
17And the residue (part that remains, the rest) thereof he makes a god, [even] his graven image: he falls down unto it, and worships [it], and prays unto it, and says, Deliver me; for youi [are] my god.
18They have not known nor understood: for he has shut their eyes, that they cannot see; [and] their hearts, that they cannot understand.
19And none considers in his heart, neither [is there] knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yes, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten [it]: and shall I make the residue (part that remains, the rest) thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
20He feeds on ashes: a deceived heart has turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, [Is there] not a lie in my right hand?
21Remember these, O Ya’akov [Heal of God] and Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God]; for youi [are] my servant: I have formed youi; youi [are] my servant: O Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God], youi shall not be forgotten of me.
22I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, youri transgressions, and, as a cloud, youri sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed youi.
23Sing, O you2f heavens; for the Lord-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) has done [it]: shout, you2f lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, you2f mountains, O forest, and every tree in it: for the Lord-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) has redeemed Ya’akov [Heal of God], and glorified himself in Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God].
24Thus says the Lord-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), youri redeemer, and he that formed youi from the womb, I [am] the Lord-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) that makes all [things]; that stretches forth the heavens alone; that spreads abroad the earth by myself;
25That frustrates the tokens of the liars, and makes diviners mad; that turns wise [men] backward, and makes their knowledge foolish;
26That confirms the word of his servant, and performs the counsel of his messengers; that says to Yerushalayim [Foundation of Peace], youi shall be inhabited; and to the cities of Y’hudah [Let Him (God) Be Praised], You2f shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:
27That says to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up youri rivers:
28That says of Koresh (Cyrus) [possess you the furnace], [He is] my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Yerushalayim [Foundation of Peace], youi shall be built; and to the temple, Your1s foundation shall be laid.

and take on the name of Israel.”
No God Other Than the Lord
6This is what the Lord, the King of Israel and its Redeemer,#Is 41:14; 43:14 the Lord of Armies, says:
I am the first and I am the last.#Is 41:4; 43:10; 48:12; Rv 1:8,17; 22:13
There is no God but me.#Is 43:11; 44:8; 45:5–6

Let these gods declare#44:7 Lit declare them — the coming things,
and what will take place.
8Do not be startled or afraid.
Have I not told you and declared it long ago?
You are my witnesses!#Is 43:10
Is there any God but me?#Dt 4:35,39; 1Sm 2:2; Is 45:5; Jl 2:27
There is no other Rock;#Is 17:10; 26:4; 30:29 I do not know any.
9All who make idols are nothing,
and what they treasure benefits no one.
Their witnesses do not see or know anything,
so they will be put to shame.#Ps 97:7; Is 42:17; 44:11; 45:16
10Who makes a god or casts a metal image
that benefits no one?#Is 41:29; Jr 10:5; Hab 2:18; Ac 19:26
11Look, all its worshipers will be put to shame,
and the craftsmen are humans.
They all will assemble and stand;
they all will be startled and put to shame.
12The ironworker labors over the coals,
shapes the idol with hammers,
and works it with his strong arm.
Also he grows hungry and his strength fails;
he doesn’t drink water and is faint.
13The woodworker stretches out a measuring line,
he outlines it with a stylus;
he shapes it with chisels
and outlines it with a compass.
He makes it according to a human form,#Ps 115:5–7
like a beautiful person,
to dwell in a temple.
14He cuts down#44:14 Lit To cut down for himself cedars for his use,
or he takes a cypress or an oak.
He lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest.
He plants a laurel, and the rain makes it grow.
15A person can use it for fuel.
He takes some of it and warms himself;
also he kindles a fire and bakes bread;
he even makes it into a god and worships it;
he makes an idol from it and bows down to it.
16He burns half of it in a fire,
and he roasts meat on that half.
He eats the roast and is satisfied.
He warms himself and says, “Ah!
I am warm, I see the blaze.”
17He makes a god or his idol with the rest of it.
He bows down to it and worships;
he prays to it,#1Kg 18:26,28; Is 45:20 “Save me, for you are my god.”
18Such people#44:18 Lit They do not comprehend
and cannot understand,
for he has shut their eyes#44:18 Or for their eyes are shut so they cannot see,

19No one comes to his senses;#44:19 Lit No one returns to his heart
no one has the perception or insight to say,
“I burned half of it in the fire,
I also baked bread on its coals,
I roasted meat and ate.
Should I make something detestable#Dt 27:15; 1Kg 11:5,7; 2Kg 23:13–14 with the rest of it?
Should I bow down to a block of wood?”
20He feeds on#44:20 Or He shepherds ashes.
His deceived mind has led him astray,
and he cannot rescue himself,
or say, “Isn’t there a lie in my right hand?” #Is 57:11; 59:3–4,13; Rm 1:25
