Isaiah 25
25
1Lord, you are my God. I will honor you and praise who you are, because you have done wonderful things that you planned long ago. You are faithful and trustworthy! 2You have turned the city#25:2. Though no specific city is named, it is probable that Babylon is meant. Certainly it is an enemy city (having a foreigner's palace). into a pile of rubble; the fortified town is now a ruin; the foreigner palace is gone. It is no longer a city and it will never be rebuilt. 3Because of this powerful nations will honor you; cities of brutal nations will be in awe of you.
4But you have protected the poor and needy when they were in trouble, you shielded them from storms and shaded them from the heat. For the actions of brutal people are like rain beating against a wall, 5like heat in a desert. You end the noisy uprising of foreigners. In the same way that a cloud's shadow cools down the heat of the day, so the song sung by brutal people is silenced.
6On this mountain#25:6. Referring to Mount Zion. the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast for all nations, a lavish feast of aged wines, rich food, and the best meat. 7On this mountain he will destroy the veil that covers all the nations, the sheet that is over everyone. 8He will destroy death forever. The Lord God will wipe away all tears, and everywhere he will take away the humiliation suffered by his people. The Lord has spoken.
9At that time his people will say, “Look! This is our God; we have trusted in him and he has saved us! This is the Lord we have been looking for. Now we can be happy and celebrate the salvation he brings!” 10The Lord's hand of protection will be on this mountain. But the Moabites will be trampled underfoot like straw into the water of a manure pit. 11They will reach out their hands to try and save themselves, like swimmers using their hands to swim, but their pride will be humbled however much they thrash about. 12Moab,#25:12. “Moab”: supplied for clarity. he will demolish your fortress with the high walls, bringing it down to the ground, into the dust.

Isaiah 25

Last Days’ Deliverance
1Adonai, You are my God, I will exalt You, I will praise Your Name, for You have done wonderful things, plans of old with steadfast faithfulness.
2For You have made a city into a heap, a fortified city into a ruin, a foreigner’s palace a city no more— never to be rebuilt.
3Therefore a strong people will honor You. Cities of ruthless nations will fear You.
4For You have been a stronghold for the poor, a stronghold for the needy in distress, a refuge from the rainstorm, a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against the wall.
5Like heat in a dry place, You subdue the roar of foreigners. Like heat in the shade of a cloud, the song of tyrants is brought low.
6On this mountain, Adonai-Tzva’ot will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples— a banquet of aged wine— of rich food, of choice marrow, of aged wine well refined.
7On this mountain He will swallow up the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the veil spread over all nations.
8He will swallow up death forever. my Lord Adonai will wipe away tears from every face. He will remove His people’s reproach from all the earth. For Adonai has spoken.
9It will be said in that day: “Behold, this is our God, We waited for Him—He will save us. This is Adonai—we waited for Him. We will rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”
10For the hand of Adonai will rest on this mountain. Moab will be trampled under Him, as straw is trampled in a manure pile.
11When he spreads his hands in it as a swimmer spreads his hands to swim, his pride will be brought down low together with the trickery of his hands.
12He will level your high-fortified walls, lay them low, and cast them down to the ground, down to dust.
