Genesis 5
5
1This is the record of Adam's descendants. When God created human beings, he made them to be like him. 2He created them male and female, and blessed them. On the day he created them he called them “human.”#5:2. “Human”: literally, “Adam,” or “man.”
3When Adam was 130, he had a son who was like him, made in his image; and he named him Seth. 4Adam lived another 800 years after Seth was born, and had other sons and daughters. 5Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.
6When Seth was 105, he had Enosh. 7Seth lived another 807 years after Enosh was born, and had other sons and daughters. 8Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.
9When Enosh was 90, he had Kenan. 10Enosh lived another 815 years after Kenan was born, and had other sons and daughters. 11Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died.
12When Kenan was 70, he had Mehalalel. 13Kenan lived another 840 years after Mehalalel was born, and had other sons and daughters. 14Kenan lived a total of 910 years, and then he died. 15When Mahalalel was 65, he had Jared. 16After Jared was born, Mahalalel lived another 830 years and had other sons and daughters. 17Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died.
18When Jared was 162, he had Enoch. 19After Enoch was born, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 20Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.
21When Enoch was 65, he had Methuselah. 22He had a close relationship with God. After Methuselah was born, Enoch lived another 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23Enoch lived a total of 365 years. 24Enoch had such a close relationship with God that he didn't die,#5:24. “He didn't die”: supplied for clarity. See Hebrews 11:5. he just wasn't there anymore, because God took him.
25When Methuselah was 187, he had Lamech. 26After Lamech was born, Methuselah lived another 782 years and had other sons and daughters. 27Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died.
28When Lamech was 182, he had a son. 29He named him Noah,#5:29. “Noah”: associated in meaning with “relief,” “rest,” and “comfort.” with the explanation, “He will provide relief for us from all the hard manual labor we need to do in cultivating the ground the Lord has cursed.” 30After Noah was born, Lamech lived another 595 years and had other sons and daughters. 31Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.
32Noah was 500 before he had Shem, Ham, and Japheth.#5:32. From the internal evidence in Genesis it appears Japheth was the oldest and Ham the youngest. Usually siblings are listed in birth order in the Old Testament, though for example Moses, despite being younger than Aaron, is listed first. Here it appears that Shem is considered to be more important, and so is listed first.

Book of Genealogies
1This is the Book of the Genealogies of Adam: When God created Adam, in the likeness of God He made him.
2Male and female He created them, and He blessed them and called their name “Adam” when He created them.
3Adam lived 130 years, then fathered a son in his likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.
4Then the days of Adam after he fathered Seth were 800 years, and He fathered other sons and daughters.
5So all Adam’s days that he lived were 930 years, and then he died.
6Seth lived 105 years, then fathered Enosh.
7Seth lived 807 years after he fathered Enosh, and he fathered sons and daughters.
8So all Seth’s days were 912 years, and then he died.
9Enosh lived 90 years, then fathered Kenan.
10Enosh lived 815 years after he fathered Kenan, and he fathered sons and daughters.
11So all of Enosh’s days were 905 years, and then he died.
12Kenan lived 70 years, then fathered Mahalalel.
13Kenan lived 840 years after he fathered Mahalalel, he fathered sons and daughters.
14So all of Kenan’s days were 910 years, and then he died.
15Mahalalel lived 65 years, then fathered Jared.
16Mahalalel lived 830 years after he fathered Jared, and he fathered sons and daughters.
17So all of Mahalalel’s days were 895 years, and then he died.
18Jared lived 162 years, then fathered Enoch.
19Jared lived 800 years after he fathered Enoch, and he fathered sons and daughters.
20So all of Jared’s days were 962 years, and then he died.
21Enoch lived 65 years, then fathered Methuselah.
22Now Enoch walked with God continually for 300 years after he fathered Methuselah, and he fathered sons and daughters.
23So all of Enoch’s days were 365 years.
24And Enoch continually walked with God—then he was not there, because God took him.
25Methuselah lived 187 years and fathered Lamech.
26And Methuselah lived 782 years after he fathered Lamech, and he fathered other sons and daughters.
27So all of Methuselah’s days were 969 years, and then he died.
28Lamech lived 182 years and he fathered a son.
29And he named him Noah saying, “This one will comfort us from our work and from the pain of our hands because of the ground which Adonai cursed.”
30Lamech lived 595 years after he fathered Noah, and he fathered sons and daughters.
31So all of Lamech’s days were 777 years, and then he died.
32And Noah was 500 years old when he fathered Shem, Ham and Japheth.
