God Has Spoken
A poetic song of Asaph, the gatherer # 50 Asaph’s name means “gatherer” or “fulfilled prophecy.” Like David, Asaph was anointed with the spirit of prophecy and wrote twelve psalms (Pss. 50; 73–83).
1The God of gods, the mighty Lord himself, has spoken!
He shouts out over all the people of the earth
in every brilliant sunrise and every beautiful sunset,
saying, “Listen to me!”
2God’s glory-light shines out of the Zion-realm # 50:2 The Aramaic text can be translated “Out of Zion God has shown a glorious crown.”
with the radiance of perfect beauty.
3With the rumble of thunder he approaches;
he will not be silent, for he comes with an earsplitting sound!
All around him are furious flames of fire,
and preceding him is the dazzling blaze of his glory.
4Here he comes to judge his people!
He summons his court with heaven and earth as his jury, saying,
5“Gather all my devoted lovers,
my godly ones whose hearts are one with me—
those who have entered into my holy covenant
by sacrifices upon the altar.”
6And the heavens declare his justice:
“God himself will be their judge,
and he will judge them with righteousness!”
Pause in his presence
7“Listen to me, O my people! Listen well, for I am your God!
I am bringing you to trial, and here are my charges. # 50:7 This summons to judgment is not against the heathen nations but against God’s people. See 1 Peter 4:17.
8I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices,
which you continually bring to my altar.
9Do I need your young bulls or goats from your fields
as if I were hungry?
10-11Every animal of field and forest belongs to me, the Creator.
I know every movement of the birds in the sky,
and every animal of the field is in my thoughts.
The entire world and everything it contains is mine.
12-13If I were hungry, do you think I would tell you?
For all that I have created, the fullness of the earth, is mine.
Am I fed by your sacrifices? Of course not!
14Why don’t you bring me the sacrifices I desire?
Bring me your true and sincere thanks,
and show your gratitude by keeping your promises to me,
the Most High.
15Honor me by trusting in me in your day of trouble.
Cry aloud to me, and I will be there to rescue you.
16And now I speak to the wicked. Listen to what I have to say to you!
What right do you have to presume to speak for me
and claim my covenant promises as yours?
17For you have hated my instruction and disregarded my words,
throwing them away as worthless!
18You forget to condemn the thief or adulterer.
You are their friend, running alongside them into darkness.
19-20The sins of your mouth multiply evil.
You have a lifestyle of lies;
you are devoted to deceit as you speak against others,
even slandering those of your own household!
21All this you have done and I kept silent,
so you thought that I was just like you, sanctioning evil.
But now I will bring you to my courtroom
and spell out clearly my charges before you.
22This is your last chance, my final warning. Your time is up!
Turn away from all this evil, or the next time you hear from me
will be when I am coming to pass judgment upon you.
I will snatch you away, and no one will be there
to help you escape my judgment.
23The life that pleases me is a life lived in the gratitude of grace,
always choosing to walk with me in what is right.
This is the sacrifice I desire from you.
If you do this, more of my salvation will unfold for you.”

A Psalm (sacred song about or to God) of Asaph [Gatherer].
1The mighty God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], [even] the Lord-Yehōvah [Messiah Pre-Incarnate], has spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.
2Out of Tziyon [Parched Place], the perfection of beauty, God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] has shined.
3Our God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.
4He shall call to (to do entirely, do wholly) the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
5Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
6And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] [is] judge himself. Selah [stop and diligently consider what was just said].
7Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel of God], and I will testify against youi: I [am] God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], [even] youri God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered].
8I will not reprove youi for youri sacrifices or youri burnt offerings, [to have been] continually before me.
9I will take no bullock out of youri house, [nor] he goats out of youri folds.
10For every beast of the forest [is] mine, [and] the cattle upon a thousand hills.
11I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field [are] mine.
12If I were hungry, I would not tell youi: for the world [is] mine, and the fullness thereof.
13Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
14Offer unto God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] thanksgiving; and pay youri vows unto the most High:
15And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver youi, and youi shall glorify me.
16But unto the wicked God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] says, What have youi to do to declare my statutes, or [that] youi should take my covenant in youri mouth?
17Seeing youi hate instruction, and cast my words behind youi.
18When youi saw a thief, then youi consented with him, and have been partaker with adulterers.
19youi give youri mouth to evil, and youri tongue frames deceit.
20youi sit [and] speak against youri brother; youi slander youri own mother’s son.
21These [things] have youi done, and I kept silence; youi thought that I was altogether [such an one] as yourself: [but] I will reprove youi, and set [them] in order before youri eyes.
22Now consider this, you2f that forget God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], lest I tear [you] in pieces, and [there be] none to deliver.
23Whoso offers praise glorifies me: and to him that orders [his] Conversation (behavior; way of life; community) [aright (in the right way)] will I show the salvation of God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered].
