Declare Me Innocent
King David’s poetic praise to God
David’s Trust and Transparency
1Yahweh, be my judge and declare me innocent!
Clear my name, for I walk in integrity
and trust you without wavering.
2Yahweh, you can scrutinize me.
Refine my heart and probe my every thought.
Put me to the test and you’ll find me true.
3I will never lose sight of your steadfast love for me.
Your faithfulness has steadied my steps.
David’s Truthfulness
4I won’t keep company with tricky, two-faced men,
nor will I go the way of those with hidden motives.
5I despise the sinner’s hangouts.
You won’t find me walking with the wicked.
6-7When I come to your altar, Yahweh,
I’ll be clean before you, # 26:6–7 Or “I wash my hands in innocence.”
approaching with songs of thanksgiving,
singing songs of your mighty miracles.
David’s Testimony
8Yahweh, I love to live in your house, this dwelling place of dazzling glory!
9Don’t treat me as one of these scheming sinners
who plot violence against the innocent.
10Look how they devise their wicked plans;
their hands are always ready to receive a bribe.
11I’m not like them, Lord—not at all.
Save me, redeem me with your mercy,
for I have chosen to walk only in what is right.
12Among the worshipers I will praise Yahweh,
for I am safe and secure because of you!

A psalm of David.
1Confirm that I'm innocent, Lord, for I have acted with integrity, and I have trusted in the Lord without fail.
2Examine me, Lord, test me; investigate my thoughts and intentions.
3For I always remember your trustworthy love, and I follow your truth.
4I don't join in with liars and I don't associate with hypocrites.
5I refuse to get together with those who do evil, and I won't involve myself with the wicked.
6I wash my hands to show my innocence. I come to worship#26:6. Literally, “I march around your altar”—part of the actions of worship. at your altar, Lord,
7singing my thanks, telling of all the wonderful things you have done.
8Lord, I love your house, the place where you live in your glory.
9Please don't sweep me away along with sinners. Don't include me with those who commit murder,
10whose hands carry out their evil schemes and grab hold of bribes.
11For I don't do that—I act with integrity. Save me and be gracious to me!
12I stand for what's right,#26:12. “I stand for what's right”: literally, “My foot stands on level ground.” and I will praise the Lord when we meet together to worship him.
