Psalms 20
20
A Victory Decree
For the Pure and Shining One
For the end times, by David # 20 The inscription for Pss. 20–22 is “For the end times,” as translated from the Septuagint.
May God Hear You
1In your day of danger may Yahweh answer and deliver you.
May the name of the God of Jacob # 20:1 Jacob was one transformed by God’s grace, changed from a schemer who took from others into Israel, God’s prince. set you safely on high!
2May supernatural help be sent from his sanctuary.
May he support you from Zion’s fortress!
3May he remember every gift you have given him
and celebrate every sacrifice of love you have shown him. # 20:3 Or “May he consider your burnt offerings generous.”
Pause in his presence
4May Yahweh give you every desire of your heart
and carry out your every plan as you go to battle.
5When you succeed, we will celebrate and shout for joy.
Flags will fly when victory is yours!
Yes, God will answer your prayers, and we will praise him!
6I know Yahweh gives me all that I ask for
and brings victory to his anointed king.
My deliverance cry will be heard in his holy heaven.
By his mighty hand miracles will manifest
through his saving strength.
7Some find their strength in their weapons and wisdom,
but my miracle-deliverance can never be won by men.
Our boast is in Yahweh our God,
who makes us strong and gives us victory!
8Our enemies will not prevail; they will only collapse and
perish in defeat while we will rise up, full of courage.
9Give victory to our king, O Yahweh!
The day we call on you, give us your answer!

PSALM 20
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
1 JEHOVAH hear thee in the day
when trouble he doth send:
And let the name of Jacob's God
thee from all ill defend.
2O let him help send from above,
out of his sanctuary:
From Sion, his own holy hill,
let him give strength to thee.
3Let him remember all thy gifts,
accept thy sacrifice:
4Grant thee thine heart's wish, and fulfil
thy thoughts and counsel wise.
5In thy salvation we will joy;
in our God's name we will
Display our banners: and the Lord
thy prayers all fulfil.
6Now know I God his king doth save:
he from his holy heav'n
Will hear him, with the saving strength
by his own right hand giv'n.
7In chariots some put confidence,
some horses trust upon:
But we remember will the name
of our Lord God alone.
8We rise, and upright stand, when they
are bowed down, and fall.
9Deliver, Lord; and let the King
us hear, when we do call.
