Psalms 149

Triumphant Praise
1Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
It’s time to sing to God a brand-new song # 149:1 Or “a spontaneous song.”
so that all his holy people will hear how wonderful he is!
2May Israel be enthused with joy because of him,
and may the sons of Zion pour out
their joyful praises to their King.
3Break forth with dancing!
Make music and sing God’s praises with the rhythm of drums!
4For he enjoys his faithful lovers.
He adorns the humble with his beauty,
and he loves to give them victory.
5His godly lovers triumph in the glory of God,
and their joyful praises will rise even while others sleep.
6God’s high and holy praises fill their mouths,
for their shouted praises are their weapons of war!
7These warring weapons will bring vengeance
on the nations and every resistant power—
8to bind kings with chains and rulers with iron shackles.
9Praise-filled warriors will enforce
the judgment decreed against their enemies.
This is the honor he gives to all his godly lovers.
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

PSALM 149
1 Alleluia. Sing ye to the Lord a new song; his praising be in the church of saints.
2Israel be glad in him that made him; and the daughters of Zion make full out joy in their king.
3Praise they his name in a quire or choir; say they psalm to him in a tympan, and psaltery.
4For the Lord is well pleased in his people; and he hath raised mild men into health.
5Saints shall make full out joy in glory; they shall be glad in their beds.
6The full out joyings of God in the throat of them; and swords sharp on both sides in the hands of them.
7To do vengeance in nations; and blamings in peoples.
8To bind the kings of them in stocks; and the noble men of them in iron manacles.
9That they make in them the doom written; this is the glory to all his saints.
