Psalms 149

Triumphant Praise
1Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
It’s time to sing to God a brand-new song # 149:1 Or “a spontaneous song.”
so that all his holy people will hear how wonderful he is!
2May Israel be enthused with joy because of him,
and may the sons of Zion pour out
their joyful praises to their King.
3Break forth with dancing!
Make music and sing God’s praises with the rhythm of drums!
4For he enjoys his faithful lovers.
He adorns the humble with his beauty,
and he loves to give them victory.
5His godly lovers triumph in the glory of God,
and their joyful praises will rise even while others sleep.
6God’s high and holy praises fill their mouths,
for their shouted praises are their weapons of war!
7These warring weapons will bring vengeance
on the nations and every resistant power—
8to bind kings with chains and rulers with iron shackles.
9Praise-filled warriors will enforce
the judgment decreed against their enemies.
This is the honor he gives to all his godly lovers.
Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

1Praise Yah! Sing to יהוה a new song, His praise in an assembly of lovingly-committed ones.
2Let Yisra’ĕl rejoice in their Maker; Let the children of Tsiyon exult in their Sovereign.
3Let them praise His Name in a dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the tambourine and lyre.
4For יהוה takes pleasure in His people; He embellishes the meek ones with deliverance.
5Let the lovingly-committed ones exult in esteem; Let them sing aloud on their beds.
6Let the exaltation of Ěl be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand,
7To execute vengeance on the nations, Punishments on the peoples;
8To bind their sovereigns with chains, And their nobles with iron bands;
9To execute on them the written right-ruling; A splendour it is for all His lovingly-committed ones. Praise Yah!
