Psalms 145

God’s Greatness
King David’s poetic song of praise
1My heart explodes with praise to you!
Now and forever my heart bows in worship to you,
my King and my God!
2Every day I will lift up my praise to your name
with praises that will last throughout eternity.
3Lord, you are great and worthy of the highest praise!
For there is no end to the discovery
of the greatness that surrounds you.
4Generation after generation will declare more of your greatness
and declare more of your glory.
5Your magnificent splendor and the miracles of your majesty
are my constant meditation.
6Your awe-inspiring acts of power have everyone talking!
I’m telling people everywhere about your excellent greatness!
7Our hearts bubble over as we celebrate the fame
of your marvelous beauty, bringing bliss to our hearts.
We shout with ecstatic joy over your breakthrough for us.
8You’re kind and tenderhearted to those who don’t deserve it
and very patient with people who fail you.
Your love is like a flooding river overflowing its banks with kindness.
9God, everyone sees your goodness,
for your tender love is blended into everything you do.
10Everything you have made will praise you, fulfilling its purpose.
And all your godly ones will be found bowing before you.
11They will tell the world of the lavish splendor of your kingdom
and preach about your limitless power.
12They will demonstrate for all to see your miracles of might
and reveal the glorious majesty of your kingdom.
13You are the Lord who reigns over your never-ending kingdom through all the ages of time and eternity!
You are faithful to fulfill every promise you’ve made.
You manifest yourself as kindness in all you do. # 145:13 The last two lines of this verse are only found in one reliable Hebrew manuscript and in the Septuagint. It could also be translated “All your works are very holy.”
14Weak and feeble ones you will sustain.
Those bent over with burdens of shame you will lift up.
15You have captured our attention
and the eyes of all look to you.
You give what they hunger for at just the right time.
16When you open your generous hand, it’s full of blessings,
satisfying the longings of every living thing.
17You are fair and righteous in everything you do,
and your love is wrapped into all your works.
18You draw near to those who call out to you,
listening closely, especially when their hearts are true.
19Every godly one receives
even more than what they ask for.
For you hear what their hearts really long for,
and you bring them your saving strength.
20God, you watch carefully over all your devoted lovers like a bodyguard,
but you will destroy the ungodly.
21I will praise you, Lord!
Let everyone everywhere join me in praising
the beautiful Lord of holiness from now through eternity!

PSALM 145
1 The psalm of David. My God, king, I shall enhance thee; and I shall bless thy name into the world, and into the world of world.
2By all days I shall bless thee; and I shall praise thy name into the world, and into the world of the world.
3The Lord is great, and worthy to be praised full much; and none end there is of his greatness.
4Generation and generation shall praise thy works; and they shall pro-nounce, either tell afar, thy power.
5They shall speak of the magnifi-cence of the glory of thine holiness; and they shall tell of all thy marvels.
6And they shall say of the strength of thy fearedful things; and they shall tell of thy greatness.
7They shall bring forth the mind of the abundance of thy sweetness; and they shall tell with full out joying of thy rightfulness [or rightwiseness].
8The Lord is a merciful doer and merciful in will; patient, and much merciful.
9The Lord is sweet in all things; and his merciful doings be above all his works.
10Lord, all thy works acknowledge to thee; and thy saints bless thee.
11They shall say [of] the glory of thy realm; and they shall speak of thy power.
12That they make thy power known to the sons of men; and the glory of the magnificence of thy realm.
13Thy realm is the realm of all worlds; and thy lordship is in all generation and into generation. The Lord is faithful in all his words; and holy in all his works.
14The Lord lifteth up all that fall down; and raiseth up all men hurtled down.
15Lord, the eyes of all beasts hope in thee; and thou givest the meat of them in covenable time.
16Thou openest thine hand; and thou [ful] fillest each beast with blessing.
17The Lord is just [or rightwise] in all his ways; and holy in all his works.
18The Lord is nigh to all that inward-ly call him; to all that inwardly call him in truth.
19He shall do the will of them, that dread him; and he shall hear the beseeching of them, and he shall make them safe.
20The Lord keepeth all men loving him; and he shall lose all sinners.
21My mouth shall speak the praising of the Lord; and each man bless his holy name into the world, and into the world of world.
