Psalms 131
131
My Heart Is Meek
A song of the stairway by King David
1Lord, my heart is meek before you.
I don’t consider myself better than others.
I’m content to not pursue matters that are over my head—
such as your complex mysteries and wonders—
that I’m not yet ready to understand.
2I am humbled and quieted in your presence.
Like a contented child who rests on its mother’s lap, # 131:2 “Like a contented child” is literally “Like a weaned child.”
I’m your resting child and my soul is content in you.
3O people of God, # 131:3 Or “O Israel.” your time has come to quietly trust,
waiting upon the Lord now and forever.

PSALM 131
1 The song of degrees to David. Lord, mine heart is not enhanced; neither mine eyes be raised. Neither I went in great things; neither in marvels above me.
2If I feeled not meekly; but [I] en-hanced my soul. As a child weaned on his mother; so yielding be in my soul.
3Israel, hope in the Lord; from this time now and into the world.
