My Heart Is Meek
A song of the stairway by King David
1Lord, my heart is meek before you.
I don’t consider myself better than others.
I’m content to not pursue matters that are over my head—
such as your complex mysteries and wonders—
that I’m not yet ready to understand.
2I am humbled and quieted in your presence.
Like a contented child who rests on its mother’s lap, # 131:2 “Like a contented child” is literally “Like a weaned child.”
I’m your resting child and my soul is content in you.
3O people of God, # 131:3 Or “O Israel.” your time has come to quietly trust,
waiting upon the Lord now and forever.

Simple Trust in the Lord
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
1Lord, my heart is not haughty,
Nor my eyes lofty.
#(Ps. 103:3, 4); Luke 1:68; Titus 2:14Neither do I concern myself with great matters,
Nor with things too profound for me.
2Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul,
#Jer. 45:5; (Rom. 12:16)Like a weaned child with his mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3#(Matt. 18:3; 1 Cor. 14:20)O Israel, hope in the Lord
From this time forth and forever.
