Psalms 123
123
A Prayer for Mercy
A song of the stairway
1O God-Enthroned in heaven, I lift my eyes toward you in worship.
2The way I love you
is like the way a servant wants to please his master,
the way a maid waits for the orders of her mistress.
We look to you, our God, with passionate longing
to please you and discover more of your mercy and grace.
3-4For we’ve had more than our fill of this scoffing and scorn—
this mistreatment by the wealthy elite.
Lord, show us your mercy!
Lord, show us your grace!

(Shir HaMa'alot [Song of Ascents])
1Unto Thee lift I up mine eyes, O Thou that dwellest in Shomayim.
2Hinei, as the eyes of avadim look unto the yad adoneihem, and as the eyes of a shifchah (maiden) unto the yad of her gevirah; so our eyes wait upon Hashem Eloheinu, until He have channun (favor, grace) upon us.
3Channenu Hashem, channenu; for we are more than sated with buz (contempt).
4Nafsheinu (our nefesh) is more than sated with the scorn of those that are at ease, and with the buz (contempt) of the g'eiyonim (proud ones, arrogant ones).
