Psalms 100

Praise God
A poetic song for thanksgiving
1Lift up a great shout of joy to Yahweh!
Go ahead and do it—everyone, everywhere!
2Worship Yahweh with gladness.
Sing your way into his presence with joy!
3And realize what this really means—
we have the privilege of worshiping Yahweh our God.
For he is our Creator and we belong to him.
We are the people of his pleasure. # 100:3 Or “the sheep of his pasture.”
4You can pass through his open gates # 100:4 The Hebrew word for “gate [doorway]” is sha’ar and has multiple meanings. It can also mean “storm.” When you pass through his gates you enter into the stormy, passionate love of God. See Rev. 3:20. with the password of praise.
Come right into his presence with thanksgiving.
Come bring your thank offering to him
and affectionately bless his beautiful name!
5For Yahweh is always good and ready to receive you.
He’s so loving that it will amaze you—
so kind that it will astound you!
And he is famous for his faithfulness toward all.
Everyone knows our God can be trusted,
for he keeps his promises to every generation!

Psalm 100#sn Psalm 100. The psalmist celebrates the fact that Israel has a special relationship to God and summons worshipers to praise the Lord for his faithfulness.
A thanksgiving psalm.
1 Shout out praises to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Worship#tn Or “serve.” the Lord with joy!
Enter his presence with joyful singing!
3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God!
He made us and we belong to him;#tn The present translation (like most modern translations) follows the Qere (marginal reading), which reads literally, “and to him [are] we.” The Kethib (consonantal text) has “and not we.” The suffixed preposition לו (“to him”) was confused aurally with the negative particle לא because the two sound identical.
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give him thanks!
Praise his name!
5 For the Lord is good.
His loyal love endures,#tn Or “is forever.”
and he is faithful through all generations.#tn Heb “and to a generation and a generation [is] his faithfulness.”
