Psalm 122
A Prayer for Jerusalem
A song of ascents. Of David.
1I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let’s go to the house of the Lord.”#Is 2:3; Mc 4:2; Zch 8:21
2Our feet were standing
within your gates, Jerusalem#Ps 9:14; Jr 7:2  —
3Jerusalem, built as a city should be,
solidly united,#Neh 4:6; Ps 147:2
4where the tribes, the Lord’s tribes, go up
to give thanks to the name of the Lord.#Is 2:3; Mc 4:2
(This is an ordinance for Israel.#1Ch 22:13)
5There, thrones for judgment are placed,
thrones of the house of David.#Dt 17:8; 2Ch 19:8
6Pray for the well-being#122:6 Or peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you be secure;#Ps 51:18; Jr 29:7
7may there be peace within your walls,
security within your fortresses.”#Ps 48:3
8Because of my brothers and friends,
I will say, “May peace be in you.”#122:8 = Jerusalem#1Sm 25:6; Ps 85:8
9Because of the house of the Lord our God,
I will pursue your prosperity.#Neh 2:10; Est 10:3
