Psalm 101

A Vow of Integrity

A psalm of David.

1I will sing of faithful love and justice;

I will sing praise to you, Lord.#Ps 89:1; 145:7

2I will pay attention to the way of integrity.

When will you come to me?

I will live with a heart of integrity in my house.#1Kg 9:4; Ps 119:1

3I will not let anything worthless guide me.#101:3 Lit I will not put a worthless thing in front of my eyes

I hate the practice of transgression;

it will not cling to me.#Dt 15:9; Ps 40:4

4A devious heart will be far from me;

I will not be involved with#101:4 Lit not know evil.#Pr 3:32; 14:2

5I will destroy anyone

who secretly slanders his neighbor;#Ps 50:20

I cannot tolerate anyone

with haughty eyes or an arrogant heart.#Ps 18:27; Is 5:15

6My eyes favor the faithful of the land

so that they may sit down with me.

The one who follows the way of integrity

may serve me.#Ps 119:1; Pr 11:20

7No one who acts deceitfully

will live in my palace;

the one who tells lies

will not be retained here to guide me.#101:7 Lit be established in front of my eyes#Ps 31:18; 52:3; 63:11; Pr 29:12

8Every morning I will destroy

all the wicked of the land,

wiping out all evildoers from the Lord’s city.#Ps 119:119; Jr 21:12
