The Day of the Lord
1“For look, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them,” says the Lord of Armies, “not leaving them root or branches. 2But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings,#Ps 37:6; Is 58:8 and you will go out and playfully jump like calves from the stall.#4:2 Or like stall-fed calves 3You will trample the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I am preparing,” says the Lord of Armies.
A Final Warning
4“Remember the instruction of Moses my servant, the statutes and ordinances I commanded him at Horeb#Dt 4:10,15; 5:2 for all Israel. 5Look, I am going to send you the prophet Elijah#Mt 11:13–14 before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.#Jl 2:31; Ac 2:20 6And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers.#Lk 1:17 Otherwise, I will come and strike the land#4:6 Or earth with a curse.”

Malachi 4
4
1For, behold, the day cometh, it burneth as a furnace; and all the proud, and all that work wickedness, shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith Jehovah of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2But unto you that fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings; and ye shall go forth, and gambol as calves of the stall. 3And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make, saith Jehovah of hosts.
4Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, even statutes and ordinances. 5Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of Jehovah come. 6And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers; lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
