The Line of Seth
1This is the document containing the family#5:1 Lit written family records#Gn 2:4 of Adam.#5:1 Or mankind On the day that God created man,#5:1 Or Adam, human beings he made him in the likeness of God; 2he created them male and female. 3Adam was 130 years old when he fathered a son in his likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth. 4Adam lived 800 years after he fathered Seth, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 5So Adam’s life lasted 930 years; then he died.
6Seth was 105 years old when he fathered Enosh. 7Seth lived 807 years after he fathered Enosh, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 8So Seth’s life lasted 912 years; then he died.
9Enosh was 90 years old when he fathered Kenan. 10Enosh lived 815 years after he fathered Kenan, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 11So Enosh’s life lasted 905 years; then he died.
12Kenan was 70 years old when he fathered Mahalalel. 13Kenan lived 840 years after he fathered Mahalalel, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 14So Kenan’s life lasted 910 years; then he died.
15Mahalalel was 65 years old when he fathered Jared. 16Mahalalel lived 830 years after he fathered Jared, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 17So Mahalalel’s life lasted 895 years; then he died.
18Jared was 162 years old when he fathered Enoch. 19Jared lived 800 years after he fathered Enoch, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 20So Jared’s life lasted 962 years; then he died.
21Enoch was 65 years old when he fathered Methuselah. 22And after he fathered Methuselah, Enoch walked with God#Gn 6:9; 17:1; 24:40; 48:15; Mc 6:8; Mal 2:6; 1Th 2:12 300 years and fathered other sons and daughters. 23So Enoch’s life lasted 365 years. 24Enoch walked with God; then he was not there because God took him.#2Kg 2:11; Heb 11:5
25Methuselah was 187 years old when he fathered Lamech. 26Methuselah lived 782 years after he fathered Lamech, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 27So Methuselah’s life lasted 969 years; then he died.
28Lamech was 182 years old when he fathered a son. 29And he named him Noah,#5:29 In Hb, the name Noah sounds like “bring us relief.” saying, “This one will bring us relief from the agonizing labor of our hands, caused by the ground the Lord has cursed.”#Gn 3:17–19; 4:11 30Lamech lived 595 years after he fathered Noah, and he fathered other sons and daughters. 31So Lamech’s life lasted 777 years; then he died.
32Noah was 500 years old, and he fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Adam’s Descendants to Noah
1This is the record of the generations#Or “family records” of Adam. When#Literally “On the day” God created Adam,#Or “humankind” he made him in the likeness of God. 2Male and female he created them. And he blessed them. And he called their name “Humankind” when#Literally “on the day” they were created. 3And when Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he fathered a child in his likeness, according to his image. And he called his name Seth. 4And the days of Adam after he fathered Seth were eight hundred years. And he fathered sons and daughters. 5And all the days of Adam which he lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.
6When#Literally “On the day” Seth had lived one hundred and five years, he fathered Enosh. 7And after Seth had fathered Enosh he lived eight hundred and seven years, and fathered sons and daughters. 8And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.
9When#Literally “On the day” Enosh lived ninety years, he fathered Kenan. 10And after Enosh fathered Kenan he lived eight hundred and fifteen years, and fathered sons and daughters. 11And all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years, and he died.
12When#Literally “On the day” Kenan had lived seventy years, he fathered Mahalalel. 13And after Kenan had fathered Mahalalel, he lived eight hundred and forty years, and fathered sons and daughters. 14And all the days of Kenan were nine hundred and ten years, and he died.
15When#Literally “On the day” Mahalalel had lived sixty-five years, he fathered Jared. 16And after Mahalalel had fathered Jared, he lived eight hundred and thirty years, and fathered sons and daughters. 17And all the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred and ninety-five years, and he died.
18When#Literally “On the day” Jared had lived one hundred and sixty-two years, he fathered Enoch. 19And after Jared had fathered Enoch, he lived eight hundred years, and fathered sons and daughters. 20And all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and he died.
21When#Literally “On the day” Enoch had lived sixty-five years, he fathered Methuselah. 22And Enoch walked with God after he fathered Methuselah three hundred years, and fathered sons and daughters. 23And all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. 24And Enoch walked with God, and he was no more, for God took him.
25When#Literally “On the day” Methuselah had lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, he fathered Lamech. 26And after Methuselah had fathered Lamech, he lived seven hundred and eighty-two years, and fathered sons and daughters. 27And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.
28When#Literally “On the day” Lamech had lived one hundred and eighty-two years, he fathered a son. 29And he called his name Noah, saying, “This one shall relieve us#Literally “shall comfort us” from our work, and from the hard labor of our hands, from the ground which Yahweh had cursed. 30And after Lamech had fathered Noah he lived five hundred and ninety-five years, and he fathered sons and daughters. 31All the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and he died.
32When#Literally “On the day” Noah was five hundred years old,#Literally “was a son of five hundred years” Noah fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
