PSALM 85
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
To the chief Musician,
A Psalm for the sons of Korah.
1O Lord, thou hast been favourable
to thy beloved land:
Jacob's captivity thou hast
recall'd with mighty hand.
2Thou pardoned thy people hast
all their iniquities;
Thou all their trespasses and sins
hast cover'd from thine eyes.
3Thou took'st off all thine ire, and turn'dst
from thy wrath's furiousness.
4Turn us, God of our health, and cause
thy wrath 'gainst us to cease.
5Shall thy displeasure thus endure
against us without end?
Wilt thou to generations all
thine anger forth extend?
6That in thee may thy people joy,
wilt thou not us revive?
7Shew us thy mercy, Lord, to us
do thy salvation give.
8I'll hear what God the Lord will speak:
to his folk he'll speak peace,
And to his saints; but let them not
return to foolishness.
9To them that fear him surely near
is his salvation;
That glory in our land may have
her habitation.
10Truth met with mercy, righteousness
and peace kiss'd mutually:
11Truth springs from earth, and righteousness
looks down from heaven high.
12Yea, what is good the Lord shall give;
our land shall yield increase:
13Justice, to set us in his steps,
shall go before his face.

PSALM 85
To the chief Musician. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm.
1Thou hast been favourable, Jehovah, unto thy land; thou hast turned the captivity of Jacob: 2Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people; thou hast covered all their sin. Selah. 3Thou hast withdrawn all thy wrath; thou hast turned from the fierceness of thine anger. 4Bring us back, O God#GodHebrew: Elohim of our salvation, and cause thine indignation toward us to cease. 5Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger from generation to generation? 6Wilt thou not revive us again, that thy people may rejoice in thee? 7Shew us thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, and grant us thy salvation.
8I will hear what ·God#GodHebrew: El Jehovah, will speak; for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his godly ones: but let them not turn again to folly. 9Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him, that glory may dwell in our land. 10Loving-kindness and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other: 11Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from the heavens. 12Jehovah also will give what is good, and our land shall yield its increase. 13Righteousness shall go before him, and shall set his footsteps on the way.
