PSALM 84
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
To the chief Musician upon Gittith,
A Psalm for the sons of Korah.
1How lovely is thy dwelling-place,
O Lord of hosts, to me!
The tabernacles of thy grace
how pleasant, Lord, they be!
2My thirsty soul longs veh'mently,
yea faints, thy courts to see:
My very heart and flesh cry out,
O living God, for thee.
3Behold, the sparrow findeth out
an house wherein to rest;
The swallow also for herself
hath purchased a nest;
Ev'n thine own altars, where she safe
her young ones forth may bring,
O thou almighty Lord of hosts,
who art my God and King.
4Bless'd are they in thy house that dwell,
they ever give thee praise.
5Bless'd is the man whose strength thou art,
in whose heart are thy ways:
6Who passing thorough Baca's vale,
therein do dig up wells;
Also the rain that falleth down
the pools with water fills.
7So they from strength unwearied go
still forward unto strength,
Until in Sion they appear
before the Lord at length.
8Lord God of hosts, my prayer hear;
O Jacob's God, give ear.
9See God our shield, look on the face
of thine anointed dear.
10For in thy courts one day excels
a thousand; rather in
My God's house will I keep a door,
than dwell in tents of sin.
11For God the Lord's a sun and shield:
he'll grace and glory give;
And will withhold no good from them
that uprightly do live.
12O thou that art the Lord of hosts,
that man is truly blest,
Who by assured confidence
on thee alone doth rest.

Psalm 84
Korah's sons wrote this song for the music leader. Use special music.
The journey to Zion
1 Lord Almighty,
the temple where you live is beautiful!
2I want very much to go to the Lord's temple.
I very much want to be in the temple yards.
With all that I am, and with great joy,
I sing to you, the God who lives for ever!
3In your temple,
even sparrows#84:3 ‘sparrows’ are small birds that are not valuable. have their homes.
Swallows builds their nests there,
to take care of their babies.
They can be near to your altars,
Lord Almighty, my king and my God.
4You have truly blessed those people
who live in your temple.
They can praise you all the time!
Selah.
5You have blessed those people
who come to you to make them strong.
They love to travel to your temple in Zion.
6As they go through the dry Baka valley,
springs of water appear there!
The autumn rain covers the valley with pools.
7The people become stronger as they travel,
until each one meets with God in Zion. #84:7 God helped the people who were travelling to his temple in Jerusalem. Baka Valley was a dry place. Even there, God gave the people water to drink. He took care of them so that they arrived safely at his temple to worship him there.
8 Lord God Almighty,
please listen to my prayer!
God of Jacob, hear me!
Selah.
9God, look at our king,
the one who protects us like a shield!
Take care of the king that you have chosen.
10I would rather be near your temple for one day
than have a thousand days anywhere else.
I would rather stand near the door of God's temple
than live among wicked people.
11The Lord God is like a sun
and a shield for his people.
He is kind to his people
and he gives glory to them.
To those who do what is right,
he gives every good thing that they need.
12 Lord Almighty,
you have truly blessed everyone who trusts in you!
