PSALM 70
First Version
Meter: 6,6,8,6
To the chief Musician,
A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.
1Lord, haste me to deliver; with speed,
Lord, succor me.
2Let them that for my soul do seek
shamed and confounded be:
Turned back be they, and shamed,
that in my hurt delight.
3Turned back be they, Ha, ha! that say,
their shaming to requite.
4In thee let all be glad,
and joy that seek for thee:
Let them who thy salvation love
say still, God praisèd be.
5I poor and needy am; come, Lord,
and make no stay:
My help thou and deliv'rer art;
O Lord, make no delay.

Psalm 70
David wrote this song for the music leader, to ask God to help him.
A prayer for help #70:1 This psalm is the same as Psalms 40:13-17. Also see Psalms 35:4,21,26,27.
1God, please save me!
Lord, come quickly to help me!
2Stop the people who want to kill me,
so that they become ashamed and confused.
Chase the people who want to hurt me,
so that they run away in shame.
3When people laugh at me,
make them ashamed for what they have done.
4God, may those who want to know you be very happy.
Everyone who loves you because you have saved them
should never stop saying, ‘Praise God.’
5But I am poor and weak, God.
Please hurry to give me help.
You are the one who helps me
and who saves me.
Lord, come quickly to help me!
