PSALM 60
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
To the chief Musician upon Shushan-eduth,
Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aram-naharaim, and with Aram-zobah, when Joab returned and smote of Edom, in the valley of Salt, twelve thousand.
1O Lord, thou hast rejected us,
and scatter'd us abroad;
Thou justly hast displeased been;
return to us, O God.
2The earth to tremble thou hast made;
therein didst breaches make:
Do thou thereof the breaches heal,
because the land doth shake.
3Unto thy people thou hard things hast shew'd,
and on them sent;
And thou hast caused us to drink
wine of astonishment.
4And yet a banner thou hast giv'n
to them who thee do fear;
That it by them, because of truth,
displayed may appear.
5That thy beloved people may
deliver'd be from thrall,
Save with the pow'r of thy right hand,
and hear me when I call.
6God in his holiness hath spoke;
herein I will take pleasure:
Shechem I will divide, and forth
will Succoth's valley measure.
7Gilead I claim as mine by right;
Manasseh mine shall be;
Ephraim is of mine head the strength;
Judah gives laws for me;
8Moab's my washing-pot; my shoe
I'll over Edom throw;
And over Palestina's land
I will in triumph go.
9O who is he will bring me to
the city fortify'd?
O who is he that to the land
of Edom will me guide?
10O God, which hadest us cast off,
this thing wilt thou not do?
Ev'n thou, O God, which didest not
forth with our armies go?
11Help us from trouble; for the help
is vain which man supplies.
12Through God we'll do great acts; he shall
tread down our enemies.

PSALM 60
To the chief Musician. On Shushan. Testimony. Michtam of David; to teach: when he strove with the Syrians of Mesopotamia, and the Syrians of Zobah, and Joab returned, and smote the Edomites in the valley of salt, twelve thousand.
1O God#GodHebrew: Elohim thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased: restore us again. 2Thou hast made the earth to tremble, thou hast rent it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh. 3Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; thou hast made us to drink the wine of bewilderment. 4Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth, (Selah,) 5That thy beloved ones may be delivered. Save with thy right hand, and answer me.
6God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. 7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my law-giver; 8Moab is my wash-pot; upon Edom will I cast my sandal; Philistia, shout aloud because of me. 9Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me unto Edom? 10Wilt not thou, O God#GodHebrew: Elohim who didst cast us off? and didst not go forth, O God#GodHebrew: Elohim with our armies? 11Give us help from trouble; for vain is man's deliverance. 12Through God#GodHebrew: Elohim we shall do valiantly; and he it is that will tread down our adversaries.
