Psalms 5

PSALM 5
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
To the chief Musician, upon Nehiloth,
A Psalm of David.
1Give ear unto my words, O Lord,
my meditation weigh.
2Hear my loud cry, my King, my God;
for I to thee will pray.
3Lord, thou shalt early hear my voice:
I early will direct
My pray'r to thee; and, looking up,
an answer will expect.
4For thou art not a God that doth
in wickedness delight;
Neither shall evil dwell with thee,
5Nor fools stand in thy sight.
All that ill-doers are thou hat'st;
6Cutt'st off that liars be:
The bloody and deceitful man
abhorred is by thee.
7But I into thy house will come
in thine abundant grace;
And I will worship in thy fear
toward thy holy place.
8Because of those mine enemies,
Lord, in thy righteousness
Do thou me lead; do thou thy way
make straight before my face.
9For in their mouth there is no truth,
their inward part is ill;
Their throat's an open sepulchre,
their tongue doth flatter still.
10O God, destroy them; let them be
by their own counsel quell'd:
Them for their many sins cast out,
for they 'gainst thee rebell'd.
11But let all joy that trust in thee,
and still make shouting noise;
For them thou sav'st; let all that love
thy name in thee rejoice.
12For, Lord, unto the righteous man
thou wilt thy blessing yield:
With favour thou wilt compass him
about, as with a shield.

Tehillim (Psalms) 5
5
1Give ear to my words, O יהוה, Consider my meditation.
2Attend to the voice of my cry, My Sovereign and my Elohim, For unto You I pray.
3O יהוה, in the morning You hear my voice; I present myself to You in the morning, And I look up.
4For You are not an Ěl taking delight in wrong, Nor does evil dwell with You.
5The boasters do not stand before Your eyes; You hate all workers of wickedness.
6You destroy those speaking falsehood; יהוה loathes a man of blood and deceit.
7But I, I enter Your house In the greatness of Your loving-commitment; I bow myself toward Your set-apart Hĕḵal in Your fear.
8O יהוה, lead me in Your righteousness because of those watching me; Make Your way straight before my face.
9For there is no stability in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction; Their throat is an open burial-site; They flatter with their tongue.
10Declare them guilty, O Elohim! Let them fall by their own counsels; Thrust them away for their many transgressions, Because they have rebelled against You.
11But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; Let them ever shout for joy, because You shelter them; And let those who love Your Name exult in You.
12For You bless the righteous, O יהוה; You surround him with favour as with a shield.
