Psalms 34

PSALM 34
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
A Psalm of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech; who drove him away, and he departed.
1God will I bless all times; his praise
my mouth shall still express.
2My soul shall boast in God: the meek
shall hear with joyfulness.
3Extol the Lord with me, let us
exalt his name together.
4I sought the Lord, he heard, and did
me from all fears deliver.
5They look'd to him, and lighten'd were:
not shamed were their faces.
6This poor man cry'd, God heard, and sav'd
him from all his distresses.
7The angel of the Lord encamps,
and round encompasseth
All those about that do him fear,
and them delivereth.
8O taste and see that God is good:
who trusts in him is bless'd.
9Fear God his saints: none that him fear
shall be with want oppress'd.
10The lions young may hungry be,
and they may lack their food:
But they that truly seek the Lord
shall not lack any good.
11O children, hither do ye come,
and unto me give ear;
I shall you teach to understand
how ye the Lord should fear.
12What man is he that life desires,
to see good would live long?
13Thy lips refrain from speaking guile,
and from ill words thy tongue.
14Depart from ill, do good, seek peace,
pursue it earnestly.
15God's eyes are on the just; his ears
are open to their cry.
16The face of God is set against
those that do wickedly,
That he may quite out from the earth
cut off their memory.
17The righteous cry unto the Lord,
he unto them gives ear;
And they out of their troubles all
by him deliver'd are.
18The Lord is ever nigh to them
that be of broken sp'rit;
To them he safety doth afford
that are in heart contrite.
19The troubles that afflict the just
in number many be;
But yet at length out of them all
the Lord doth set him free.
20He carefully his bones doth keep,
whatever can befall;
That not so much as one of them
can broken be at all.
21Ill shall the wicked slay; laid waste
shall be who hate the just.
22The Lord redeems his servants' souls;
none perish that him trust.

(Of Dovid, when he feigned insanity before Avimelech, who drove him away, and he went out)
1 I will make a bracha of praise unto Hashem at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My nefesh shall make its boast in Hashem; the anavim (humble) shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3 O magnify Hashem with me, and let us exalt Shmo together.
4 I sought Hashem, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked unto Him, and were radiant; and their panim were not ashamed.
6 The oni (poor man) cried, and Hashem heard him, and saved him out of all his tzoros.
7 The Malach Hashem encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them.
8 O taste and see that Hashem is tov; ashrei is the man that taketh refuge in Him.
9 O fear Hashem, ye His Kedoshim; for there is no lack to them that fear Him.
10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; but they that seek Hashem shall not lack any good thing.
11 Come, ye banim, pay heed unto me; I will teach you the fear of Hashem.
12 What ish is he that desireth chayyim, and loveth many days, that he may see tov?
13 Keep thy tongue from rah, and thy lips from speaking mirmah.#34:13 guile, see Isa 53:9 where it says Moshiach will lack mirmah
14 Depart from rah, and do tov; seek shalom, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of Hashem are upon the tzaddikim, and His ears open to their cry.
16 The face of Hashem is against them that do rah, to cut off the zekher (remembrance) of them from ha'aretz.
17 The tzaddikim cry, and Hashem heareth, and delivereth them out of all their tzoros.
18 Hashem is near unto them whose lev is broken; and saveth such whose ruach is contrite.
19 Many are the afflictions of the tzaddik; but Hashem delivereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth shomer over all his bones; not one of them is broken.#34:20 Jn 19:36
21 Evil shall slay the resha'im; and they that hate the tzaddik shall be desolate.
22 Hashem redeemeth the nefesh of His avadim; and none of them that take refuge in Him shall be condemned.#34:22 See Ro 5:1; 8:1
