PSALM 26
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
A Psalm of David.
1Judge me, O Lord, for I have walk'd
in mine integrity:
I trusted also in the Lord;
slide therefore shall not I.
2Examine me, and do me prove;
try heart and reins, O God:
3For thy love is before mine eyes,
thy truth's paths I have trode.
4With persons vain I have not sat,
nor with dissemblers gone:
5Th' assembly of ill men I hate;
to sit with such I shun.
6Mine hands in innocence, O Lord,
I'll wash and purify;
So to thine holy altar go,
and compass it will I:
7That I, with voice of thanksgiving,
may publish and declare,
And tell of all thy mighty works,
that great and wondrous are.
8The habitation of thy house,
Lord, I have loved well;
Yea, in that place I do delight
where doth thine honour dwell.
9With sinners gather not my soul,
and such as blood would spill:
10Whose hands mischievous plots, right hand
corrupting bribes do fill.
11But as for me, I will walk on
in mine integrity:
Do thou redeem me, and, O Lord,
be merciful to me.
12My foot upon an even place
doth stand with stedfastness:
Within the congregations
th' Eternal I will bless.

PSALM 26
1 [The psalm of David.] Lord, deem thou me, for I entered in mine inno-cence; and I hoping in the Lord, shall not be made unsteadfast.
2Lord, prove thou me, and assay me; burn thou my reins, and mine heart.
3For why thy mercy is before mine eyes; and I pleased in thy truth.
4I sat not with the counsel of vanity; and I shall not enter with men doing wicked things.
5I hated the church of evil men; and I shall not sit with wicked men.
6I shall wash mine hands among innocents; and, Lord, I shall compass thine altar.
7That I hear the voice of praising; and that I tell out all thy marvels.
8Lord, I have loved the fairness of thine house; and the place of the dwelling of thy glory.
9God, lose thou not my soul with unfaithful men; and my life with men of bloods.
10In whose hands wickednesses be; the right hand of them is full-filled with gifts.
11But I entered in mine innocence; again-buy thou me, and have mercy on me.
12My foot stood in rightfulness; Lord, I shall bless thee in churches.
