Psalms 25

PSALM 25
First Version
Meter: 6,6,8,6
1To thee I lift my soul:
2O Lord, I trust in thee:
My God, let me not be asham'd,
nor foes triumph o'er me.
3Let none that wait on thee
be put to shame at all;
But those that without cause transgress,
let shame upon them fall.
4Shew me thy ways, O Lord;
thy paths, O teach thou me:
5And do thou lead me in thy truth,
therein my teacher be:
For thou art God that dost
to me salvation send,
And I upon thee all the day
expecting do attend.
6Thy tender mercies, Lord,
I pray thee to remember,
And loving-kindnesses; for they
have been of old for ever.
7My sins and faults of youth
do thou, O Lord, forget:
After thy mercy think on me,
and for thy goodness great.
8God good and upright is:
the way he'll sinners show.
9The meek in judgment he will guide,
and make his path to know.
10The whole paths of the Lord
are truth and mercy sure,
To those that do his cov'nant keep,
and testimonies pure.
11Now, for thine own name's sake,
O Lord, I thee entreat
To pardon mine iniquity;
for it is very great.
12What man is he that fears
the Lord, and doth him serve?
Him shall he teach the way that he
shall choose, and still observe.
13His soul shall dwell at ease;
and his posterity
Shall flourish still, and of the earth
inheritors shall be.
14With those that fear him is
the secret of the Lord;
The knowledge of his covenant
he will to them afford.
15Mine eyes upon the Lord
continually are set:
For he it is that shall bring forth
my feet out of the net.
16Turn unto me thy face,
and to me mercy show;
Because that I am desolate,
and am brought very low.
17My heart's griefs are increas'd:
me from distress relieve.
18See mine affliction and my pain,
and all my sins forgive.
19Consider thou my foes,
because they many are;
And it a cruel hatred is
which they against me bear.
20O do thou keep my soul,
do thou deliver me:
And let me never be asham'd,
because I trust in thee.
21Let uprightness and truth
keep me, who thee attend.
22Redemption, Lord, to Israel
from all his troubles send.

Psalms 25
25
# Psalm 25 In Hebrew, each verse in this psalm begins with the next letter of the alphabet. A song of David.
1Lord, I put my life in your hands.#25:1 I put … hands Literally, “I lift my soul to you.”
2I trust in you, my God,
and I will not be disappointed.
My enemies will not laugh at me.
3No one who trusts in you will be disappointed.
But disappointment will come to those who try to deceive others.
They will get nothing.
4Lord, help me learn your ways.
Show me how you want me to live.
5Guide me and teach me your truths.
You are my God, my Savior.
You are the one I have been waiting for.
6Remember to be kind to me, Lord.
Show me the tender love that you have always had.
7Don’t remember the sinful things I did when I was young.
Because you are good, Lord, remember me with your faithful love.
8The Lord is good and does what is right.
He shows sinners the right way to live.
9He teaches his ways to humble people.
He leads them with fairness.
10The Lord is kind and true to those
who obey what he said in his agreement.
11Lord, I have done many wrong things.
But I ask you to forgive them all to show your goodness.
12When people choose to follow the Lord,
he shows them the best way to live.
13They will enjoy good things,
and their children will get the land God promised.
14The Lord tells his secrets to his followers.
He teaches them about his agreement.
15I always look to the Lord for help.
Only he can free me from my troubles.#25:15 Only … troubles Literally, “For he will remove my feet from the net.”
16I am hurt and lonely.
Turn to me, and show me mercy.
17Free me from my troubles.
Help me solve my problems.
18Look at my trials and troubles.
Forgive me for all the sins I have done.
19Look at all the enemies I have.
They hate me and want to hurt me.
20Protect me! Save me from them!
I come to you for protection, so don’t let me be disappointed.
21You are good and do what is right.
I trust you to protect me.
22God, save the people of Israel
from all their enemies.
