Psalms 25

PSALM 25
First Version
Meter: 6,6,8,6
1To thee I lift my soul:
2O Lord, I trust in thee:
My God, let me not be asham'd,
nor foes triumph o'er me.
3Let none that wait on thee
be put to shame at all;
But those that without cause transgress,
let shame upon them fall.
4Shew me thy ways, O Lord;
thy paths, O teach thou me:
5And do thou lead me in thy truth,
therein my teacher be:
For thou art God that dost
to me salvation send,
And I upon thee all the day
expecting do attend.
6Thy tender mercies, Lord,
I pray thee to remember,
And loving-kindnesses; for they
have been of old for ever.
7My sins and faults of youth
do thou, O Lord, forget:
After thy mercy think on me,
and for thy goodness great.
8God good and upright is:
the way he'll sinners show.
9The meek in judgment he will guide,
and make his path to know.
10The whole paths of the Lord
are truth and mercy sure,
To those that do his cov'nant keep,
and testimonies pure.
11Now, for thine own name's sake,
O Lord, I thee entreat
To pardon mine iniquity;
for it is very great.
12What man is he that fears
the Lord, and doth him serve?
Him shall he teach the way that he
shall choose, and still observe.
13His soul shall dwell at ease;
and his posterity
Shall flourish still, and of the earth
inheritors shall be.
14With those that fear him is
the secret of the Lord;
The knowledge of his covenant
he will to them afford.
15Mine eyes upon the Lord
continually are set:
For he it is that shall bring forth
my feet out of the net.
16Turn unto me thy face,
and to me mercy show;
Because that I am desolate,
and am brought very low.
17My heart's griefs are increas'd:
me from distress relieve.
18See mine affliction and my pain,
and all my sins forgive.
19Consider thou my foes,
because they many are;
And it a cruel hatred is
which they against me bear.
20O do thou keep my soul,
do thou deliver me:
And let me never be asham'd,
because I trust in thee.
21Let uprightness and truth
keep me, who thee attend.
22Redemption, Lord, to Israel
from all his troubles send.

Psalms 25
25
Psalm 25#This psalm is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.
Of David.
1In you, Lord my God,
I put my trust.
2I trust in you;
do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3No-one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
who are treacherous without cause.
4Show me your ways, Lord,
teach me your paths.
5Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Saviour,
and my hope is in you all day long.
6Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
7Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, Lord, are good.
8Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
9He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
10All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful
towards those who keep the demands of his covenant.
11For the sake of your name, Lord,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
12Who, then, are those who fear the Lord?
He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.#25:12 Or ways he chooses
13They will spend their days in prosperity,
and their descendants will inherit the land.
14The Lord confides in those who fear him;
he makes his covenant known to them.
15My eyes are ever on the Lord,
for only he will release my feet from the snare.
16Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.
17Relieve the troubles of my heart
and free me from my anguish.
18Look on my affliction and my distress
and take away all my sins.
19See how numerous are my enemies
and how fiercely they hate me!
20Guard my life and rescue me;
do not let me be put to shame,
for I take refuge in you.
21May integrity and uprightness protect me,
because my hope, Lord,#25:21 Septuagint; Hebrew does not have Lord. is in you.
22Deliver Israel, O God,
from all their troubles!
