Psalms 19

PSALM 19
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
To the chief Musician,
A Psalm of David.
1The heav'ns God's glory do declare,
the skies his hand-works preach:
2Day utters speech to day, and night
to night doth knowledge teach.
3There is no speech nor tongue to which
their voice doth not extend:
4Their line is gone through all the earth,
their words to the world's end.
In them he set the sun a tent;
5Who, bridegroom-like, forth goes
From's chamber, as a strong man doth
to run his race rejoice.
6From heav'n's end is his going forth,
circling to th' end again;
And there is nothing from his heat
that hidden doth remain.
7God's law is perfect, and converts
the soul in sin that lies:
God's testimony is most sure,
and makes the simple wise.
8The statutes of the Lord are right,
and do rejoice the heart:
The Lord's command is pure, and doth
light to the eyes impart.
9Unspotted is the fear of God,
and doth endure for ever:
The judgments of the Lord are true
and righteous altogether.
10They more than gold, yea, much fine gold,
to be desired are:
Than honey, honey from the comb
that droppeth, sweeter far.
11Moreover, they thy servant warn
how he his life should frame:
A great reward provided is
for them that keep the same.
12Who can his errors understand?
O cleanse thou me within
13From secret faults. Thy servant keep
from all presumptuous sin:
And do not suffer them to have
dominion over me:
Then, righteous and innocent,
I from much sin shall be.
14The words which from my mouth proceed,
the thoughts sent from my heart,
Accept, O Lord, for thou my strength
and my Redeemer art.

Psalms 19
19
1To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid. The heauens declare the glory of God, and the firmament sheweth ye worke of his hands. 2Day vnto day vttereth the same, and night vnto night teacheth knowledge. 3There is no speach nor language, where their voyce is not heard. 4Their line is gone forth through all the earth, and their words into the endes of the world: in them hath he set a tabernacle for the sunne. 5Which commeth forth as a bridegrome out of his chamber, and reioyceth like a mightie man to runne his race. 6His going out is from the ende of the heauen, and his compasse is vnto the endes of ye same, and none is hid from the heate thereof. 7The Lawe of the Lord is perfite, conuerting the soule: the testimonie of the Lord is sure, and giueth wisedome vnto the simple. 8The statutes of the Lord are right and reioyce the heart: the commandement of the Lord is pure, and giueth light vnto the eyes. 9The feare of the Lord is cleane, and indureth for euer: the iudgements of the Lord are trueth: they are righteous altogether, 10And more to be desired then golde, yea, then much fine golde: sweeter also then honie and the honie combe. 11Moreouer by them is thy seruant made circumspect, and in keeping of them there is great reward. 12Who can vnderstand his faultes? clense me from secret fautes. 13Keepe thy seruant also from presumptuous sinnes: let them not reigne ouer me: so shall I be vpright, and made cleane from much wickednes. 14Let the wordes of my mouth, and the meditation of mine heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
