PSALM 16
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
Michtam of David.
1Lord, keep me; for I trust in thee.
2To God thus was my speech,
Thou art my Lord; and unto thee
my goodness doth not reach:
3To saints on earth, to th' excellent,
where my delight's all plac'd.
4Their sorrows shall be multiply'd
to other gods that haste:
Of their drink-offerings of blood
I will no off 'ring make;
Yea, neither I their very names
up in my lips will take.
5God is of mine inheritance
and cup the portion;
The lot that fallen is to me
thou dost maintain alone.
6Unto me happily the lines
in pleasant places fell;
Yea, the inheritance I got
in beauty doth excel.
7I bless the Lord, because he doth
by counsel me conduct;
And in the seasons of the night
my reins do me instruct.
8Before me still the Lord I set:
sith it is so that he
Doth ever stand at my right hand,
I shall not moved be.
9Because of this my heart is glad,
and joy shall be exprest
Ev'n by my glory; and my flesh
in confidence shall rest.
10Because my soul in grave to dwell
shall not be left by thee;
Nor wilt thou give thine Holy One
corruption to see.
11Thou wilt me shew the path of life:
of joys there is full store
Before thy face; at thy right hand
are pleasures evermore.

The Path of Eternal Life
1A Michtam of David. Keep me safe, O God, for in You I have found shelter.
2I said to Adonai: “You are my Lord— I have no good apart from You.”
3As for the kedoshim who are in the land, they are noble—in them is all my delight.
4As for those who run after another god, may their sorrows multiply. I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood, nor lift up their names with my lips.
5Adonai is my portion and my cup. You cast my lot.
6My boundary lines fall in pleasant places —surely my heritage is beautiful.
7I will bless Adonai, who counsels me. Even at night my heart instructs me.
8I have set Adonai always before me. Since He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9So my heart is glad and my soul rejoices. My body also rests secure.
10For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol nor let Your faithful one see the Pit.
11You make known to me the path of life. Abundance of joys are in Your presence, eternal pleasures at Your right hand.
